POSITION STATEMENT: PRODUCT DESIGNER / PROJECT MANAGER

Overall purpose of the role
Make a difference by managing elements of product development projects from design into manufacturing ensuring project deliverables are met. Also contributing to the development of the Evolution team, and Chinese colleagues in particular.
Build our brand by undertaking allocated design projects, typically in the enhancement of existing products, meeting product briefs in an elegant and innovative way that support the brand.

Main tasks and duties

Project Management: take responsibility for a section of the Product Development Critical Path for assigned products, from presentation of the Product Production Plan to the mainstream product production. Ensure that all the relevant steps in the PDCP are completed, liaising with the design team, other colleagues, vendors and customers to ensure project deliverables are achieved in a timely manner, to quality and cost.
Product Design: undertake allocated design projects, mainly in the enhancement of existing products to meet design briefs. This includes liaison with colleagues and customers to understand desired changes and constraints such as cost and lead times. Liaise with 3rd party vendors responsible for the manufacture of given products to ensure any manufacturing improvements required can be achieved. Work within brand guidelines to ensure product look and feel remains consistent.
Reporting: ensure that the PDCP is kept up to date. Provide regular verbal and written reports highlighting successes, issues and concerns. Ensure that people concerned are made aware at an early stage of any difficulties that may arise so that the necessary focus can be brought to bear.

Skills and Experience

A Degree in Product Design or relevant alternative
Ideally 2 years product design experience ideally in consumer products
Ideally some experience of managing product development projects
Experience of living, study and / or working within the UK, US or similar
Working level of English
Native Chinese
Driving Licence
