Job Responsibilities
The Group Retail Store Manager is responsible for the overall running and commercial performance of all of the Dulwich College Uniform & Retail Store outlets. The current locations of our school's include: Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Zhu Hai, Seoul and Singapore.
The Group Retail Store Manager will report to the Director of Operations at DCMI and will lead the team of sales assistants located at each store. Director of Business Administration (or other delegate)
The main areas of work will involve sourcing of uniform, quality control, inventory management, management of the design of uniform and marketing collaterals for the logo shop, reaching sales targets, dealing with customer service issues such as queries and complaints, ensuring all health and safety standards of materials are met. The role will also be responsible for staff management, including interviewing and recruiting, supervising sales assistants and organising training for them.
In particular the position duties include the following;
- Oversee stock control, ensuring quality is of the right standard and that supplies are re-(uniform and marketing collaterals) are ordered in time.
- Oversee all store operational requirements by managing sales assistants and following up on work results.
- Maintains store staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Maintains store staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Create a culture of excellence in customer service.
- Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions; competitive sourcing.
- Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport through formal and informal channels with parents, students and staff and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
- Actively participate (lead) in the Uniform Committee.
- Ensures availability of merchandise by managing the suppliers and negotiating contracts; maintaining inventories.
- Formulate pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion; coordinating clearance sales of obsolete items; studying trends.
- Market 'logo' merchandise by preparing advertising, sales promotion, and display plans; analyzing operating and financial statements to ensure adequate pricing margins.
- Secures merchandise by implementing security systems and measures.
- Ensure a professional, safe and clean store environment is maintained at all times.
- Maintain all sales records and inventory records in retail shop management software.
- Ensure Sales Assistants follow all finance policies and procedures in relation to maintaining sales and stock records, audits, issuing of receipts and any other finance and legal requirements.
- Maintain the store operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing store management policies and procedures, customer service policies and procedures and a customer service pledge statement for all Sales Assistants.
- Coordinate and work closely with the Colleges to plan and execute the annual 'Uniform Week' distribution.
- Coordinate with the DCMI marketing team and College marketing team to develop and then source and sell various marketing collateral through the store. Develop and execute promotional campaigns on certain items throughout the school year.
- Contribute to the overall Dulwich College Group's team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Requirements:
- 3+ years in a retail management position, managing a team across multiple retail store locations preferably in textile industry
- Proven experience in building, managing and coaching a customer service oriented teams
- Demonstrated experience in vendor selection management
- Proven ability to manage a budget and meet targets
- Fluent in both English and Mandarin (verbal and written)
- Demonstrated experience in providing excellence in customer service and coaching team to provide high standards
