Description
The incumbent is part of the Monitoring Architecture Team and reports to the Supervisor Monitoring Architecture. The main objective of this team is to make the design and define the architecure of monitoring solutions to be able to monitor the business critical IT solutions worldwide.
The main missions are
o Monitoring daily operations
Full Support for NAGIOS and check_mk based monitoring. Define and industrialize global monitoring solutions to monitor our critical systems. Development, test and industrialize new plugins and functions to enhance Nagios and check_mk monitoring capabilities.
§ Configuration- and patch-management of Linux based operating systems.
§ Manage and build interfaces between the different monitoring tools.
§ Work in close collaboration with CC and technical service desk teams in order to develop new monitoring solutions, test and validate that new solutions.
o Continous improvement
§ Industrialization, hardening and automation of the above mentioned monitoring solutions.
§ Build Business oriented reports to measure the health of the critical applications from a monitoring point of view.
§ Ensure that all monitoring tools properly operated and continously monitored.
§ Follow a ITIL compliant change management and documentation and ensure that all actions are aligned with the FES basis.
§ Collaborate on the design and architecture of IT monitoring.
Qualification
The ideal candidate will have/be
o Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or an equivalent education.
o Broad knowledge of information technologies to ensure system/application support.
o Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
o Strong customer orientation.
o Project Management skills.
o Fluent in English – written and oral.
o Technical skills
§ Must have
ú Development languages: Strong developing skills with Python, Bash, Perl, PowerShell. Experience in object oriented technologies.
ú Strong knowledege in version control systems like GIT or SVN.
ú Experience with Puppet and kickstart.
ú Operating system: Linux (Debian, RedHat Enterprse and/or CentOS), Windows and Unix (on technical level)
ú Ability to build Debian and RPM packages to distribute the new monitoring solutions.
ú Knowledge in measurement techniques and time based performance data.
§ Advantageous
ú Networking: Knowledge of SNMP, HTTP, WMI, WinRM, REST
ú Web development: experience with HTML(5), Javascript, Django
ú Data format: knowledge of JSON, XML
