Job title: Translator

Purpose of the role:
Nature Research is seeking a translator/translation coordinator to help our Shanghai-based editor manage Chinese-language website content, providing high-quality and timely translation of Nature Research materials into Chinese. The successful candidate will play an important role in promoting Nature Research to a Chinese-speaking audience and communicating with readers about science and research.

Key tasks:
· Accurately translate research highlights, comments, news, and features from Nature or other Nature Research publications from English to Chinese in a timely manner
· Assist the Senior Communication Manager and the Senior Marketing & Communications Executive with the translation of corporate press releases, content press releases and Nature videos from English to Chinese when needed
· Coordinate with outside vendors or freelancers to translate Nature Research materials where needed, including liaising with vendors and freelancers for contract issues, managing their workflow to ensure on-time delivery, and checking their translation
· Assist with the China-based Nature Research editor to upload finalized translation onto the Chinese-language website
· Assist the commercial or marketing teams with the translation (can be English-to-Chinese or Chinese-to-English) of client materials or internal documents as required
· Perform other translation-related work in the company as needed

Requirements:
· Strong translation skill is a must, with a track record of performing English-Chinese translation of science and technology materials, experience in Chinese-English translation also desired.
· Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in science and engineering fields, particularly physical sciences.
· Experience of science communication preferred.
· Established contacts with freelance translators desirable.
· Project management skills and experience in project coordination preferred.
· Proven mastery of Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, experience with digital marketing or mobile platforms desirable.
· Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and capable to handle multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good team player
