Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Receive internal inquiry and provide legal advice in daily work for a wide coverage of PRC law related issues, especially contract, labor, IPR related ones to ensure that ALSTOM Grid activities, policies, practices and transactions comply with all corporate policies and all applicable laws, rules and regulations;


2. Offering general legal support for ALSTOM Grid team members located in, or doing business in or with counterparties in China as well as for exports; structuring, drafting and negotiating various types of commercial agreements with customers, strategic partners, distributors, vendors, lenders and others;

3. Identifying, anticipating and mitigating legal risks to ALSTOM Grid in China; handling legal disputes, arbitrations and litigation in China on behalf of ALSTOM Grid; manage complicated claims and collections, supervise and coordinate external law firms for arbitration/litigation affairs with a view to optimize their services and costs;

4. Assisting ALSTOM Grid in dealings with government agencies and other authorities in China;

5. Provide legal trainings and education for group members in China on a variety of legaland compliance issues, especially for the commercial force and support functions (Finance, HR, IT/IS, Communication);

7. Providing legal support to Compliance officer and provide internal legal advice for action plans or decisions; provide compliance training when necessary;

8. Provide legal support to China intellectual property manager or China intellectual property teams, including helping protect IP rights, review IP legal documents, and launch IP policies in China.

9. Take charge of routine legal documentation for corporate governance and other corporate secretariat duties of group members when necessary;

10. Help General Counsel to rebuild China legal team; support China legal team members in their development; coordinate China legal team members in various legal areas to ensure China legal team could provide efficient and good legal service.


Educational Requirements

- Have a law degree from a law school in China with good academic credentials.
- A JD or LLM from an accredited overseas law school would be desirable

Working Experience

- Be admitted to practice law in China.

- Have 2 years of law experience, either with the in-house legal department of a multinational corporation, an internationally known law firm, or a combination of both.

- Have experience in practicing law in China and familiarity with the laws of the United States and other nations. Demonstrated legal and leadership capability is required.

- Possess strong analytical, written and verbal communication and organizational skills. Fluency in speaking and writing Chinese and English is required.

- Be results oriented and customer focused and be able to act independently, take on significant responsibility, set appropriate priorities, work efficiently, respond promptly and handle a diverse workload and a variety of matters in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.

- Be able to function well with a supervisor who is located at a distant location; prior experience of this type is desirable.

- Have strong business acumen and be able to interact in a collegial and productive manner with other team members located locally and throughout the world.

- Be of the highest integrity and uphold all ethical and compliance standards.
