Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conducts a wide range of test procedures on sample equipment to the applicable standards and interprets results of the test. Determines or works with Laboratory Technical Manager (LTM) confirming which tests are required; the order in which to perform tests and the number of samples required. Performs tests and calculations, compiles data and summarizes test results into test reports and checklists. Verifies calculations are consistent with results of measurements. Determines whether product passes or fails subject to review by LTM.
- Maintains good housekeeping of tools, equipment and work area following tests and carries out assigned laboratory clean-up duties.
- Responsible for follow-up for any non-conformances as a result of calibration, with guidance from LTM.
- Responsible for the integrity of customer samples while in the lab as per lab management requirement.
- Maintains and initiates direct Laboratory Technical Manager (LTM) and client contact to provide information and answer questions or obtain more product information. Interprets the client's needs and provides general and specific information about the process or status of an application to assist the jobholder and improve overall customer service and satisfaction. Provides Laboratory Technical Manager (LTM) / client with detailed interpretation of test results.
- May make field trips and assist in work outside the laboratories as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Conducts test programs on consumer products and prepare the associated documentation, including collecting and reviewing data and writing reports. Assumes responsibility for the completion of assigned projects within negotiated time and cost schedules. May train or supervise others. Generally works with very minimal or no supervision.
- Reviews programs and identifies further needs to the customer.
- Interprets chemical regulations in US, CAN and EU, internal and external technical support.
- Researches regulations, standards and equipment and develop test method per regulations and standards.
- Reviews internal and external chemical report.
- Assists in developing chemical testing business plans.
- Develops SOP where necessary. Follows existing SOP to complete testing, instrumental analysis and write the report.
- Analyzes testing failures and assess measurement uncertainty.
- Maintains equipment of GC-MS, ICP-OES, AAS, UV or XRF and assists in chemical lab construction / upgrade if needed.
- Leads the implementation of ISO 17025 quality system.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor degree or above, majored in Analytic Chemistry or other chemical related subject 3-5 years of related experience.
- 2Minimum 2-3 years of working experience in chemical lab, familiar with analytical instruments such as GC-MS, ICP-OES, AAS, UV or XRF.
- Thorough knowledge of chemical regulations, standards and testing procedures. Familiar with testing item US, CAN and EU chemical regulation and testing requirement, such as but not limited to California Proposition 65, CPSC Chemical Testing, Heave Metal Testing, Phthalates, RoHS and REACH.
- Good command of English both reading and writing, CET-4 or above.
- Strong knowledge in all national / international standards through research of standards, documentation, bulletins and technical articles in area of specialty.
- Practical knowledge of working with test and measurement instruments and equipment.
- Must be able to read, interpret and develop chemical testing method.
- Ability to manage difficult or unusual projects simultaneously and meet promised delivery dates.
- Must be team-oriented with good interpersonal skills and abilities to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must be self-motivated and client-service oriented.
- Demonstrated systematic problem-solving ability.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, prioritize, follow-through and evaluate assigned functions and duties.
- Technical report writing.
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel); keyboarding.
