JOB OBJECTIVE：

To enhance the overall performance of the BSM Group of companies by providing relevant and applicable training for seagoing and shore based staff and ensuring the results of such training meet and exceed the customer’s requirements in a quality controlled environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES：

1） Ensure efficient facilitation and running of relevant courses.
2） Ensure close coordination of activities with the Training Manager with regards to training needs as well as communication with SMCs, CSCs & other BSM departments when required.
3） Delivery of training within a quality controlled environment, leading to improved safety and performance within the BSM fleet.
4） Ensure learning transfer is achieved through evaluation and assessment of attending seafarers to the satisfaction of the quality system and the customer’s needs.
5） Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the training, training facilities and quality system.
6） Be available to carry out training in any other areas on BSM’s behalf and also where appropriate with third party training institutions, in order to mutually benefit from the experience exchange.
7） Participate in ship visits or sailing periods on board BSM vessels when the opportunity arises in order to maintain currency and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the realities faced by BSM crew, in order to be effectively applied in the training environment.
8） Ensure training facilities, equipment are prepared and available for training courses and kept in a ready state of maintenance utilizing and implementing the maintenance plan of the MTC.
9） Take personal responsibility to keep ahead of industry and BSM changes affecting training needs and inputs.
10） Ensure budget consciousness in all activities and seek approval for spending through the Manager as appropriate and as applicable to the Group’s overall strategies and quality procedures.
11） Participate in the development of an annual Training Plan incorporating the MTC utilization in line with the MTCs management review under ISO 9001:2008 as may be amended. Keep the plan updated with relevant inputs and keep relevant parties informed of changes to any upcoming training schedules.
12） Preparation for annual internal audits and external audits (as applicable) for procedural verification to ensure areas of responsibility are performed as required by quality procedures.
13） Prepare and provide information for input into annual budgets as required.
14） Participate in Fleet Officer’s Meetings within the MTCs region to provide an effective platform for ship and shore based organizations to exchange information, address identified areas of concern and to intensify bonding with the Seafarers.
15） Coordinate activities of support staff and where applicable consultants in the implementation and administration of MTC and corporate objectives.

INDICATIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

Education & Qualifications
Bachelor degree or above in Maritime relevant field

Work Experience:
1） At least 3 years’ engineer experience in a junior sailing position relative to vessels types and courses.
2） And/or at least 2 years in an educational role, ideally within the maritime industry with engineer’s background.

Minimum Qualifications:
1） IMO Model Course 6.09 – Training course for instructors, or equivalent.
2） IMO Model course 3.12 – Assessment, examination and certification of seafarers.

Job-Specific Skills:
1） A thorough knowledge of current and impending maritime legislation
2） A thorough knowledge of maritime training & development needs.
3） A comprehensive understanding of evaluation and assessment techniques.
4） A thorough working knowledge and understanding of STCW as amended.
5） Knowledge of current and emerging trends and concepts in training and adult learning techniques.
6） Good communication and presentation skills.
7） Fluency in both oral and written English
8） PC / Microsoft Office literate (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
