SCOPE OF JOB
The Junior Market Research Consultant conducts and assists with various types of market, industry, business, and financial research for clients by conducting online/offline data analysis, personal interviews, cold calls, market visits, etc. They will be expected to travel throughout China multiple times a month for various projects.
The Research Consultant is also responsible for planning, co-coordinating and administering market research projects for clients.
You will be expected to exhibit the following
1. Being a professional consultant capable of independently and professionally working on projects and client needs as part of a team and individually as required.
2. Commercial astuteness, self-motivation, transparency, maturity, able to work proactively, solve problems and make decisions unsupervised if need be.
3. Work and act resourcefully with a “can-do” results orientated attitude to challenges and problem solving.
4. Have the ambition and desire to grow with the role of being a professional consultant and potential manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the role will include:
1. Be able to travel throughout China while conducting in-market visits.
2. Carry out regular in-depth face to face & telephone interviews (with key manufacturers, industry suppliers & other industry organizations) to obtain company data and market insights
3. Provide written insights (in English) into category, company & channel trends & developments
4. Prepare and make industry presentations and attend meetings with clients as/when required
5. Respond to queries or enquiries from clients throughout the year as promptly and thoroughly as possible
6. Maintain and protect at all times the confidentiality of clients data and reports
7. Working closely with and/or networking with external sources, the consultant will conduct interviews, design questionnaires, and be able to present findings in an accurate and professional manner.
8. Through research and networking, stay aware of business and commercial trends in the clients industry so as to advise and guide clients to make informed decisions related to buying and selling within industry.
9. Be capable of independently and professionally working on projects and client needs as part of a team and/or individually as required.
10. Be capable of deliver high quality research reports or market data through professional research methods and skills, e.g. studying industry and business reports, making cold calls or visits, conducting interviews with industry specialists.
11. Works and acts resourcefully with a ‘can-do’ results orientated attitude to challenges and problem solving.
12. Professionally interacts with customers, senior-level executives, and all other levels of employees.
13. Be committed to teamwork, achieving results and displaying integrity.
14. Act at all times in a manner committed to growing and enhancing the professional reputation of the company.

The requirements for the role are:
1. University qualifications mandatory, preferably in a business subject.
2. Some working experience in companies, primarily foreign invested enterprises, would be preferred.
3. Native Chinese speaker with excellent spoken English and report writing in English.
4. Good computer skills and research methods.
5. Very flexible to a broad range of company work assignments and needs.
