Position Summary: The Gerson Companies are expanding our Merchandise team to include a Merchandiser who will be based in either Shanghai or Shenzhen areas. This Merchandiser will support product lines including, candles, lanterns, various LED lighting products, décor and outdoor solar. Our Merchandiser will be present in meetings both with suppliers and our US based customers during Asia appointments. In addition, this person will support Hong Kong showroom and Shanghai office needs.

What an average day could entail:
? Looking for a Mandarin/English speaking team member to follow up with factories on production, sample requests and ongoing communication needs.
? Travel with US based product buyer to various China cities approximately 5 times annually. Duration of each trip is approximately 7-14 days. Will assist US buyer in creating trip agenda.
? Support our appointments with US based retailers in our Hong Kong showroom. Also entails helping our team prepare for the appointments. The follow up work from appointments will be in Hong Kong and the Shenzhen areas 2 times per year (approximately 7-10 days per trip). Our Merchandiser will be responsible for communicating all Gerson Company’s customer needs to the China based suppliers. This includes acting as a liaison between Gerson USA office and suppliers, including factories and service providers (testing, audit, and packaging companies).
? Record detailed notes from supplier appointments with Gerson US buyer, and follow up with US office and China suppliers as needed.
? Communicate with US office via email, Apps, and VOIP with updates on supplier progress on all projects and timelines.
? Maintain daily communication between China suppliers, US office, and Gerson Asia offices to update all parties regarding project and production schedules. .
? Follow up on samples ordered from suppliers and offer suggestions of shipping in cost effective ways.
     
Required Abilities:
? Strong English skills to facilitate accurate communication with the US office.
? Self-motivated, high energy and great attitude.
? Need strong excel skills and be proficient in other Microsoft Office programs.
? Clear understanding of populating Quote sheets and attention to detail to insure is accurate. Responsibility to correct quote sheets as needed. Helpful if have a working knowledge of FLEX. We will offer training on all forms and documents.
? Understand containerization
? Willingness to offer ideas of improvement and opinions in our current processes and new product ideas when appropriate.
? Flexibility and a great attitude when plans and strategies change. We work in a fast moving environment.
? Ability to manage your own time and efficiently execute desired outcomes. Detailed and self-initiated to assure timelines are met with consistent follow thru.
? Ability to support our company efforts in discovering new vendor sources and help us understand strengths and weaknesses of specific, current vendors. ..
? Experienced in a variety of materials such as ceramic, faux floral, wood, metal, LED and wax, as well as mixed mediums. Understanding manufacturing strengths from region to region.
? Ability to Travel up to 35% of the time.
? Excellent customer service and professional presence in both a verbal and non-verbal manner.
