Position Summary

This opportunity is perfect for students who want to learn about data analytics for business. Students will work with Dr. Jeff Lee (who received his PhD from Harvard Business School, and taught in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology business school program). Students will work on big data projects about digital marketing and social media.
    
We welcome applications from students from several majors, including: computer science, engineering, data science, statistics, psychology, sociology, business or marketing. We also welcome applications from both graduate (PhD, Masters) and undergraduate students.

We prefer students with some experience in programming, specifically in web scraping and managing datasets (e.g. via Python and MySQL). Students will have the opportunity to collect and analyze language data online.

Our project findings will be published in management journals. This will benefit students who are interested in a data analytics or business academia career.



Qualification
Required Meetings
o Availability from March 1 to June 30 to participate in weekly team meetings, and work for around 10 hours per week. We would consider off-campus work arrangements for students attending schools outside Shanghai.

Required Education and experience
o Bachelor’s degree, preferably majoring in computer science, engineering, data science, statistics, psychology, sociology, business or marketing.
o Previous experience with Python, MySQL, web scraping, and dataset management preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
o Interest in data analytics
o Background in multivariate statistics preferred
o Ability to communicate and work in English
