GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing China logistics operations encompassing distribution center processes and outbound delivery to stores as operated by 3PLs. Partner with 3PL on design of their operation to ensure on-time performance & KPIs are met, business growth is supported, the operation is cost effective and is a reliable logistics service model. Must also incorporate changes to Client, Inc logistics expectations and programs into 3pl processes.
This role collaborates closely with market leadership team to ensure goal alignment and business success and therefore represents Global Logistics to the local leadership team. Manage and develop direct reports in support of goals and rapid growth in the region.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
l Responsible for all in-market logistics operations for China market as operated by contracted 3PLs. Measurements of success include logistics' reliability, cost effectiveness, and ability to support growth in stores and selling channels. This role is responsible for operations in both PRC and Hong Kong. Manage daily logistics functions and 3rd party logistics providers (3PL's) against service levels, cost and productivity KPI's. Execute and enforce logistics strategies, SOPs, customs/CIQ regulations and international trade agreements to related business functions to ensure smooth & efficient logistics operations.
l Partner cross-functionally in the development of efficient inventory flow plans, processes, service levels & strategies. Partner with 3PL to Develop & fine tune corporate supply chain strategies & service models to ensure 3PLs compliance with agreed KPIs. Facilitate the monthly expense reconciliation and forecasting process. Participate and often facilitate the DC MPR to communicate current service and cost metrics and strategies.
l Hire, train and effectively manage the logistics team based in Shanghai. Work with both Global logistics and China leadership on employee strategies including improving EOS scores, succession and retention planning. Must be able to evaluate potential and develop next set of China logistics leaders.
l Demonstrate and ensure absolute adherence to Code of Business Conduct as well as compliance with all local laws and regulations.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATION:
l University graduate with at least 8 years' experience in logistics, warehousing & supply chain management of which 5 years is at managerial level.
l Experience in multi-national company; retail or consumer goods distribution preferred: Asian job experience a strong plus.
l China retail logistics operation knowledge (from inbound to DC up to store), experience in managing 3PL and 3rd party. Distribution centre in warehousing & distribution in China or Asia is a must.
l Proven track record of large scale project management and implementations across DCs, transport, inventory or IT systems.
l Familiar with China Customs & CIQ regulation and impacts to logistics operations.
l Familiar with China import / export process, warehouse operation, logistics and operations management.
l Good leadership, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
l Strong Integrity, self motivated, open-minded and ability to work independently and under pressure in multi-cultural environment with minimal supervision.
l Strong written and spoken communications skills, fluent in written & spoken English and Chinese.
l Position will be located in Shanghai, China with domestic (within China) & International travel is required (as necessary).
