PURPOSE OF THE FUNCTION:
To develop the transport business with a number of service providers to secure customer
availability. To strive for the best supply set up in the creation / changing of supply solutions
with the aim to secure high availability at lowest possible cost landed sales price. To assure the
demanded performance of the service providers.
ASSIGNMENTS (main responsibilities):
→ Responsible for the total business with a number of service providers.
→ Continuously develop the service providers to secure long term capacity needs and customer availability
→ Responsible for minimizing the prices and contributing to lower cost for a number of service providers.
→ Increase and secure the performance level, fulfilling the IKEA demands.
→ Establish and secure the fulfillment of the transport agreement/contract
→ Increase the share of low emission transport modes
→ Business responsible for pre defined market(s)
→ Secure co-operation with Supply Development and DCs to optimize results
→ Take the role as IKEA ambassador when communicating with external parties

COMPETENCE
Knowledge:
- University degree (Transport, Logistics, Economics) or equivalent working experience
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in similar function (preferred in the field of transportation, eg in
Operation Management or Purchase / Sales) and / or for Internal candidates proven good track record
of position within Transportation
- Knowledge of different kinds of transportation solutions
- Advanced negotiation skills
- Broad knowledge of logistics
- Fluent in English and local language
Capabilities & Motivation:
- Ability to create and develop business relations.
- Good communication skills which enable to establish proper relations with carriers.
- Result- and goal oriented.
- Cost-consciousness

Distribution Service Asia Pacific
With the movement of the head office from Singapore to Shanghai in July of 2007, Distribution Services Asia Pacific (DSAP) have undergone a rapid expansion, growing from 70 co-workers to over 500 staffs nowadays. Today DSAP supports 28 stores in Asia Pacific with 4 Distribution Centers.
Business achievement
FY08 we have seen great results and achievements in many areas in DSAP. Our handling costs per m3 improved again and ended well below target, in transport we managed to slow down some cost increase despite the very unfavorable fuel/oil cost development and direct deliveries/total lead time has had some long awaited break troughs.
We as organization also continue to grow and recently we opened a new high flow DC Yatomi in Japan. Soon our new high flow DC moorebank in Australia will be open. Shortly it’s followed by the opening of the low flow DC Fengxian in China and the full implementation of new goods flow strategy. Also in the areas of IWAY, quality and customer availability we have better results than last year.
