Broad Functional Description:



Mechanically, hydraulically and/or pneumatically assemble, repair or build custom test equipment from assembly prints, schematics, engineering instruction manuals or other means of information.



Responsibilities:


1.Must be able to perform work on a non repetitive nature using judgement gained through experience.



2.Ability to read, analyze and interpret assembly drawings, details, schematics, manuals or specifications to plan operations and coordinate work with other classifications.



3. Ability to assemble, fit and align mechanical fixtures, drivelines, conveyor lines, pumps and motors, etc. using instruments and equipment available.



4. Ability to use basic measuring devices such as OD and ID calipers, depth micrometers and similar instruments.



5. Ability to select the type and size tube or pipe and related materials according to job specifications, prints or schematics.



6. Ability to manufacture brackets, layout and mount components, identify hydraulic and pneumatic fittings and thread sizes, bend tube, install pipe, assemble hose, etc. from interpretation of schematics or other related information.



7. Ability to use various power tools and machines used in these stand assembly such as drills, saws and drill presses.



8. Basic knowledge of codes and standards as they apply to hydraulics and pneumatics.



9. Ability to assist in start-up, trouble shoot and maintenance of vendor supplied components.



10. Ability to operate forklift trucks, cranes and other material handling equipment in a safe, efficient manor.



11. Required to aid in the instruction and supervision of lower level machine builders or employees in other classifications.



12. Required to perform field service as required.



Qualification:

1. 2 year university degree



2. Typical experience for this position would be a minimum of three (3) years experience in machine building or machine tool mechanics with an above average mechanical aptitude as appraised by supervision.
