I. Background Information
Position Title: Manager, Vehicle Sales/Service/Market Analysis and Special Projects
Function/Department: Vehicle Sales, Service & Marketing, GM China
Location: Shanghai

II. Purpose
? Strategic analysis of automotive industry, market developments and competition, with focus on vehicle sales/marketing, aftersales and service, distribution/dealer network
? Support joint venture operations with strategic insights and analyses
? Support execution of special projects, e.g. project management /coordination of projects to resolve broader issues with joint ventures and business partners
? Develop management presentations, briefing materials, reports, etc. to support management

III. Areas of Responsibility
? Strategic industry, market and competitive analyses
          o Identify and analyze key industry and competitive developments, with emphasis in the vehicle sales/marketing, service/aftersales and distribution/network areas, including new/evolving business models and implications
          o Support joint venture brand teams in overall brand plan development, implementation and progress tracking
          o Maintain contacts with external market and competitive intelligence resources, and work with other Functions to develop competitive intelligence
          o Develop strategic and competitive analyses in conjunction with Portfolio Planning and Corporate Development teams, and provide assessment of strategic and business implications
          o Coordinate preparation of management briefing materials, reports and presentations as required
          o Track key business/operational issues and frame discussion documents for senior management
          o Compile, frame/develop discussion materials for leadership meetings with alliance/JV partners
          o Work with global functional and JV counterparts on business and strategic issues
          o Provide support in related areas, e.g. coordination of strategic risk management activities with GM China functions/subject-matter experts and global counterparts, including risk identification, risk assessment, development / tracking of risk mitigation action plans

? Special Projects
          o Identify/explore, develop and recommend new business and growth opportunities in the vehicle sales/marketing, aftersales/service and distribution/network development areas, including on-going monitoring of industry and competitive activities
          o Work with Public Policy/Government Relations team in assessing relevant government policy change implications for new business growth initiatives
          o Project management of special projects involving issues resolution with joint ventures and/or local business partners, including coordination with various internal GM Functions, joint venture/business partner, and interfacing with external agencies as required
          o Proactively work with existing or potential new business partners throughout project negotiations and establish strong rapport / business relationships
          o Coordinate and drive project discussions and negotiations with business partners / external agencies, track progress and manage interfaces
          o Participate in the development of business case with cross-functional teams, e.g. develop project parameter estimates for financial analysis, market study and feasibility study report
          o Facilitate communication between external partner organizations and GM, including interpretation/translation of key meeting discussions and materials as required
          o Develop regular status reports and actively communicate progress of new initiatives with management and peer groups to achieve consensus and support
          o Identify and track key issues to ensure timely resolution and progress, and develop recommendations to support management decision-making

IV. Knowledge, Experience and Competencies
? Tertiary degree from reputable university, majoring in Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related fields
? Minimum of 3 years working experience; automotive, business consulting, internet/social media industry preferred
? Prior experience in marketing, industry analyses, business consulting preferred
? Strong English and Chinese oral and written communication skills
? Proficient in MS Office computer such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
? Good understanding of Chinese and global auto industry
? Strong automotive interest and product knowledge an advantage
? Self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision
? Attention to details, analytical and strategic in thinking
? Mature and capable of handling highly confidential information and able to interact comfortably with people at various levels of seniority, both internally and externally
? Dynamic personality – energetic, enthusiastic, helpful willingness to learn and a strong team player
