Job Description – Purchasing Expeditor

Location: Shanghai
Hours: Full Time


Key Objectives

? Provide a key interface between the Far East supply partners and the UK Purchasing and Logistics team on all live purchase orders
? Responsible for managing the expediting of purchase orders placed on Far East based suppliers to ensure that all materials and finished goods are delivered in a timely manner

Key Tasks

? Ensure:
- all purchase orders raised and forwarded by the UK purchasing team are forwarded and communicated to the correct supplier contacts promptly and within SLG stated KPI’s (4 hours from receipt)
- timely acknowledgement by the supplier of receipt for all purchase orders within SLG stated KPI’s (24 hours from receipt)
- timely confirmation of Goods Read Dates by the supplier within SLG stated KPI’s (48 hours from receipt)
- ongoing negotiation and expediting of purchase orders with supply partners to improve Goods Ready Dates where required
- ongoing management and bi weekly confirmation with all suppliers of Goods Ready Date notified to ensure that production and shipping remains on track and advise UK purchasing and logistics team of any slippage or issues as they arise
- all acknowledgements and Goods Ready Dates notified are updated in a timely fashion on the Purchasing and Logistics Tracker and any other systems and spreadsheets as required to ensure that latest information is available to all departments
- effective monitoring and management of all free issue stock deliveries between multi supply partners to ensure that they are received in a timely manner to avoid slippage on end Goods Ready Date


? Work closely with the Far East Supply Chain Manager, UK NPD Team and UK Purchasing and Logistics team to ensure timely management and communication on approval of all pre-production and mass production samples

? Through strong cross functional team working with UK Purchasing and Logistics team and the Far East Logistics Co-ordinator ensure that CIQ (Dangerous Goods Certificate) where appropriate is requested and all packing lists, batch code information and other related documentation is received and checked in a timely manner to avoid shipping delays

? Provide a key interface between Far East supply partners and the UK Purchasing and Logistics team in the resolution of any purchasing related issues

? Proivde support to the Far East Logistics Co-ordinator as and when required



Key Qualification & Competency Requirements:

? Fully conversant with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel/Access and report writing.
? Educated to a minimum of bachelor of education degree level
? Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written
? Methodical and analytic worker
? Excellent communication skills
? Purchasing/Expediting experience
? Capable of working within a face paced environment
? Commercial awareness

The company operates from its UK sales and marketing offices in Cheltenham and ISO 9001 accredited manufacturing site in Gloucester and Johor Bharu in Malaysia.
The manufacture of colour cosmetics and toiletry products are sub-contracted to specialist supply partners. The set–up of our own wholly owned SLG subsidiary company based on Shanghai called SLG(Shanghai) International Trading Ltd. is now complete and will now commence recruitment of the first new members of staff to our China team.
