I. SHORT JOB DESCRIPTION

Independent Project Engineer for the planning and commissioning of equipment and systems with emphasis on electrical engineering, control engineering and CN / robot software programming, including visualization

II. AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

1.Main tasks
- Integration of Oerlikon Metco Thermal Spray Equipment with supplier equipment, such as handling systems (robot, lintrav, turntable), filter units, chillers, etc.
- Adhere to company and department policies, procedures, and standards
- Closely interact with suppliers in order to guarantee smooth Equipment integrations
- Prepare and adapt electrical drawings and if necessary operation instructions
- Start up equipment and perform trouble shooting
- Adapt IRC5 ABB robot controller to other handling equipment and perform functional test
- Perform internal pre acceptance test, ensuring adherence to company and customer's requirements
- Perform pre acceptance test together with customer and suppliers
- Create open items list and close issues accordingly
- Instruct suppliers to solve their open items and keep tracking them
- Perform customer training on entire integrated System
- Coordinate and support Equipment disassembly and prepare for shipment
- Perform customer training at customer site (if requested)
- Active involvement in continuous process improvement

2.Supporting tasks
- Support Field Service for System installations, break downs and upgrades (remote and at customer site)
- Support final acceptance test and training at customer site (remote and at customer site)
- Support Purchasing with technical concept designs of local sourced components
- Support Project Management in defining realizable System solutions
- Technically support System Sales, Project Management and especially Field Service
- Implement field trouble shooting findings into design improvements
- Analyse electrical / electronical requirements towards improvement and consistency
- Host customer visits for pre acceptance tests, trainings, plant tours, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned

3.Miscellaneous
- Intensive communication and collaboration with internal departments, other OM locations (especially Switzerland and US) and external customers and suppliers, under demanding conditions.
- In order to build up fundamental Equipment knowledge, the System Engineer is expected to perform Field Service tasks on a more or less 50% time base to begin with, which will require intensive traveling. After about three months, these tasks will be reduced step by step and compensated with local integration activities.

III. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES

1.Education/studies
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical design or related field
- Founded knowledge of feedback control design and high voltage techniques
- Expert with grounding, shielding and decoupling techniques
- Expert on digital system architecture and simulation, verification and debugging
- Chinese, fluent in oral and written
- English, fluent in oral and written

2.Professional experience
- Experienced in platform design, system concepts, electrical design, electro-mechanical integration
- Experience with engineered products, quality principles, and related technical knowledge
- Experience in electrical schematic design
- Experience in robot programming is an advantage (e.g. RAPID)
- Minimum 3 years experience in a machinery industrial environment
- Minimum 2 years experience in systems engineering role
- Good PC knowledge (MS-Office)
- Interfacing with demanding customers
- Interfacing with suppliers

3.Miscellaneous
- Sensitive to clients' needs and able to effectively communicate them to the involved design team
- Strong desire to solve issues; possess great problem solving skills and ability to persist
- Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to develop new approaches to solve complex design problems
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Good teamwork spirit and communication skills
- Willing to get exposed to Field Service activities at customer site
- Willing to travel in general
