1. Responsibility:

1) To ensure the cost effective and on-time delivery of components and products from the Cell to the Customer.

2) To continue to develop a team culture which is customer focused with a primary emphasis upon improved flexibility of operations (indirect as well as direct).

3) To develop and promote the application of the continuous improvement process, both as a means of effective productivity improvement and as a method by which employee involvement in problem solving is increased.

4) To manage and administer staff with particular emphasis upon (a) the correct composition and headcount within the group, (b) the motivation and morale of employees, (c) personal development and, where appropriate, career aspirations of each member of the team.

5) To liaise with related teams to facilitate the smooth introduction of products and associated processes to the cell in order to meet timescale, quality and cost targets.

6) Achieve agreed due date, quality, productivity, Health & Safety, housekeeping, cost reduction targets.

7) Any other legislation relevant to the site as detailed in the Company`s Health & Safety Policy and Procedures manual.

8) To ensure regular communications with all employees are maintained in line with the team briefing strategy. To foster upward communication.

9) To report to manufacturing manager regularly in English.

10) To ensure that the Company/Site policies in particular holidays, sickness absence, discriplinary and grievance are implemented consistently and fairly.

2. Job Required:

1) At least 8 years of experience in assembly, 3 years as supervisor, has experience in pumps, compressors, engines, motors is preferred.

2) Good communication skills.

3) Experience in 5S, lean activity in workshop is required.

4) Broad understanding/appreciation of key operational areas (eg quality, production engineering).

5) Suitable qualifications in manufacturing. At least 3 years of experience within a manufacturing operation having led a strategically critical process or project is essential. Experience of managing and motivating teams is essential. Experience in leading quality and other improvement projects through multi-discriplined teams is required.

6) Demonstrable record of setting and achieving superior goals for both self and others. Able to understand and interpret business (i.e. customer) needs and communicate these effectively across a broad range of people.

7) Clear understanding and application of modern manufacturing techniques, specifically: Material Requirements Planning (MRP); computerised applications.
