Purpose of the Job:

l To ensure that all materials and services required to support the operations activity of the site are procured in a timely and efficient manner.

l To manage and minimise inventory and it’s associated working capital whilst meeting customer service levels and production support.

l To manage the planning, material supply and inventory processes/systems and costs across the site.

l To continuously improve the performance of the materials group and suppliers.

Job Requirement:

l Graduate level qualifications in Engineering discipline or in manufacturing systems.

l Minimum of 5 years engineering or production management experience within a multi-disciplined manufacturing environment characterised by medium to high volume batch production where responsiveness is a key feature.

l Through knowledge and experience of computerised manufacturing control systems.

l An in-depth knowledge of the latest materials systems with demonstrable record of their successful application

l Accomplished project manager with experience of specifying and implementing computerised inventory and factory control systems.

l Demonstrable knowledge of Standing Costing principles and their application to a JIT manufacturing environment, where Kanbans and Direct Line Feed are key features.

l Must have experience of operating within a total Quality environment in which teamwork is essential

l Good interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of the Group.

l Well developed man management skills.

l Effective negotiation and communication skills.

l Time management skills with an ability to organise and influence others in an environment where there are conflicting demands and priorities.

l Understanding of the Edwards EHS management systems and behavioural safety program.

Principal Accountabilities:

l To manage the execution of Supply Agreements negotiated by the Supply Management group, ensuring that good quality materials are supplied on time and in a responsive and cost effective manner

l To manage and control the purchase of any remaining production items not handled by the Supply Management group, ensuring that the most economical price is paid consistent with the correct quality specification and delivery requirement

l Develop and use tools to monitor supplier performance, identify problem areas and resolve short and long term issues (this will involve expediting, organising business reviews with suppliers, establishing improvement plans to improve responsiveness, seeking agreement to implement buffer stocking and kanban systems).

l Control of MAPICS data quality / integrity both static and dynamic data

l Investigation and diagnosis of material variances, identifying root causes and implementing preventative actions.

l Manage the KANBAN resizing process for the assigned cell/s

l Negative stock resolution and process improvement.

l Manage the Perpetual Inventory program to ensure that stock and W.I.P levels are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved

l Manage the cell/s obsolescence provision and generate actual disposals

l Returns Management process

l Liaise with other function to manage introduction of new products and components to production

l To develop and integrate appropriate manufacturing systems that deliver on time, accurate data on which to plan and schedule production. To ensure that the database is maintained accurately.

l To ensure databases always contain accurate prime cost details.

l To develop plans and deliver a continuous reduction in factory inventory levels without compromising customer service levels or creating line stoppages.

l To ensure the effective operation of the manufacturing systems in support of factory operations.

l To participate in the Standard Cost Update process ensuring product costs are correctly maintained and that they are reported effectively.

l The initiation and contribution to improvement opportunities at the Cheonan site as part of the senior management team. This will necessitate operation outside the functional boundaries of the role.

l To manage, motivate and develop the employees under direct control so that they meet their objectives and progress their careers within the Company.

l To understand and apply the Edwards EHS management system to all aspects of the job. To show visible leadership for Safety at all times in line with the Edwards Safety Roadmap.
