韩进海运成立于1977年，成立时名为韩进集装箱班轮有限公司（HJCL）。1988年，与大韩商船合并后，正式更名为韩进海运有限公司。目前韩进海运已成为全球第七大集装箱班轮运输公司。2005年韩进海运全球销售额达到了59801亿韩元（约62.95亿美元），其中中国地区的销售额达到了15.47亿美元。
