ED&F Man has an opportunity for an experienced and high calibre Financial Manager to join a world leading agricultural commodity trading company within a joint venture of our Coffee Division, Volcafe. Working with the local Managing Director, the China Country Finance Manager, the Commercial Trading Teams and our various international subsidiaries, this senior finance position offers a broad spectrum of opportunity, scope, commercial activity and authority.

The successful candidate will cover the position of Finance Manager, coordinating and financially managing a new joint venture, including providing high quality analysis, decision support and financial leadership.

We are looking for a commercial leader who is able to drive the business forward. Ideally, you will have gained experience of operating within a fast paced multinational, entrepreneurial trading and/or commercial environment. The successful individual will develop a solid understanding of the coffee business, our global operations and the impact that these operations have on financial reporting, cash funding and risk.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead local finance team to conduct monthly /quarterly/yearly closing, and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of both IFRS and PRC GAAP reporting

· Supervise for daily accounting activities to ensure that the organization's financial resources are managed in accordance with accounting principles and comply with all relevant regulations, laws, and standards.

· Coordinate, review and drive the financial performance and results of the operation, including commercial insight and analysis.

· Develop a consistent and comprehensive set of standards and reports for the operation within the broader umbrella of improving financial and commercial support services to the business.

· Monitoring and analysis of the Company's internal control processes and information systems, continuous improvement to ensure compliance of all aspects of the process control and ordering

· Prepare for and manage internal and external annual audits – maintain a strong internal control environment.

· Budgeting and medium term planning skills are essential.

· Capital investment appraisals/monitoring, project management and treasury management.

· Respond to ad-hoc reporting requests from the local Managing Director, the Country Finance Manager, Regional Controller and Regional Supply Chain Director

· Provide appropriate coaching and mentoring for team members and helping develop a career path.

IDEAL PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an international controlling, finance or accounting environment.
• Commodity industry background is a plus, while leadership potential is essential.
• Professional accounting qualification. CPA is a plus
• Working knowledge of complex import/export procedures/ various tax laws
• Effectively bilingual (Chinese & English)
• Familiar with Finance Systems , accounting software and MS office software, ERP implementation experience is a plus
• Ability to lead a team and influence internal /external stakeholder is very important
• Candidate must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a ‘hands on’ highly visible management style, and be able to motivate change.
• Self-confident and self-motivated person able to prioritise and focus on the completion of key targets.
