The engineer has direct responsibility for planning, organizing, leading and executing the research and application development activities for assigned areas. He or she may also participate in technical service activities for the Stepan Asian polymer business. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  

  

• Develop formulations, processing, applications and testing methods. 
• Work with supervisor or project lead to design the strategy for the overall project workload, resource and plan needs, schedules, milestones, deliverables and timelines.
• Personally execute or work with workgroup members in securing resources and implementing project actions to deliver defined goals within timeframe. 
• Document and communicate technical work and findings via timely verbal updates, emails, messages and well written correspondences and project reports. 
• Contribute ideas to conceive projects for the overall growth of the company.
• Present, promote and share technology of interest and technical knowledge with internal, external customers and industry conferences.
• Review technical information, patents and literature pertinent to fields of expertise. 
• Keep an organized, up to date laboratory notebook and other documentations; maintain project and time track records.
• May involve in determining capital needs and make purchase decisions.
• Provide technical advice and training to colleagues within areas of responsibilities or field of expertise.   
• Participate in EHS&S programs and comply with related policies, regulations and laws.
• Participate in meetings, contribute ideas to improve workgroup and company performances.

Operate and maintain lab instruments and equipment

Qualifications

  

  

• MS or BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with preference to polymers.
• Experience with polyurethane industry is preferred, particularly in polyisocyanurate/polyurethane lamination formulating, processing and characterization.
• Demonstrated capability to systematically prove ideas, define and validate product value in end uses.
• Strong communication skill.  Can communicate clearly in English verbally, or in writing.
• Strong can-do attitude.
• Can contribute individually as well as in a team setting.
