Cristal, a leading, global manufacturer of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) is recruiting for an experienced bilingual (English/Chinese) Safety Manager.

Cristal has recently expanded its operations into China and acquired the TiO2 assets of Jiangxi Tikon Titanium Company, Ltd.

The position will be based at the Cristal Tikon site in Fuzhou, Jiangxi Province where over 700 people are currently employed.

About the Role

The Safety Manager position is a newly created, senior position that will be integral to the success of Cristal’s TiO2 manufacturing operation in China.

The position will be accountable for leading the sites health and safety organization and maintaining compliance to regulatory and company standards.


Key roles and responsibilities include:

Recommending strategies to address health and safety requirements placed on the site by industry regulators.

Communicating health and safety requirements so that operations can implement appropriate measures in the most cost effective manner.

Directing and advising the health and safety engineers during interactions with agencies, such as regulatory visits and injury classifications.

Assisting the site during agency enforcement actions.

Developing and maintaining health and safety programs that promote an injury free workplace and minimizes risks of non-compliance.

Working with the site health and safety organization in a united effort to find new and better ways to comply with the regulations and requirements.


About You

Mandatory role requirements:

Applicants must be fluent in written and oral English and Chinese

Applicants must be a Certified Safety Engineer
Applicants must possess in excess of 5 years relevant experience from within a similar industry environment such as: chemical / paint / steel manufacturing that involve exposure to high hazard facilities.

Applicants must possess extensive knowledge of Work Safety Law and regulations in the Peoples Republic of China that relates to the storage of hazardous chemicals.

International business or multinational company experience would also be highly regarded.
