OUR CLIENT IS A RECOGNIZED LEADER IN FMCG INDUSTRY WITH A WIDE RANGE OF PRODUCT.
In Asia, China is one of key markets in this region. The China sales revenue is accounted for a major part of the total Asia Pacific revenue. Our client is the market leader in China markets. In China, its headquarters is located in Guangzhou with annual net sales of over US$1.4 billion.
POSITION CHARTER:
The Marketing Director will lead his/her team in planning and directing the development and implementation of the brand vision and strategies to deliver sales, profitability, and category share for the assigned brands, which has a net sales value of more than US$ 600 million. The new incumbent will develop and maintain a long-term growth strategy for the assigned brands that is consistent with company's operating principles. The position holder is expected to develop and lead the brand strategy in addressing the brand growth and any potential opportunities within the category.
The Marketing Director will report directly to the Senior Marketing Director. Reporting to him/her include 2 direct reports - Brand Manager/Senior Brand Manager supporting by ABM/BM. The incumbent will also oversee advertising & media agencies and will work closely with the Consumer Insight team to ensure genuine understanding of consumer behavior and preference in different areas in China.
This position is accountable for the efficient and effective utilization of the marketing budget, which includes media, production, M&P, merchandising and consumer promotions, and etc. The main task of the role is to strengthen the brand position in their respective categories. Good understanding of the multi-tiers distribution coverage business model is also important.
The position will be also a member of global Brand board to drive global growth strategy. It may be 30-35% of his/her time, which is a good exposure and experience for him/her.
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver planned sales volume, sales value, market share targets and brand KPI’s
Lead and direct the development of the brand objectives, strategies, and plans including all the ATL and BTL communications strategies and tactics
Lead and manage the advertising and media agencies in the development of creative executions, media, consumer marketing, and advertising strategies for the assigned brands with clear KPIs
Genuinely understand consumer dynamics via working closely with consumer insight team, sales team (HQ and regions). Identifies consumer needs and addresses them using the right products (existing or new) and relevant brand propositions. Identifies emerging consumer trends affecting company’s strategies and recommend changes in company’s strategies.
Ensure effective communication with consumers and shoppers. Direct media agency to ensure effective allocation of media dollars to the brand with preset targets and KPIs.
Proactively work with the local R&D team to develop new product pipeline for upcoming 3 years. Drive innovation in product development to ensure aggressive satisfaction of consumer wants.
Manage the assigned marketing budget and expenses following proper process and discipline to ensure the tight ownership, management and control.
Create an environment with company's value and discipline in the development of talents and marketing skill sets. Grow competencies in brand building and innovative marketing.
Lead and inspire the brand team and work closely with the local market teams, national sales team, consumer insight team, and corporate affairs team in developing the brand plan and formulating key initiatives in battling against competition.
Maintain a working relationship with other regions and the global team in managing the brand development, and be alert to any new initiatives, directions or positions of the brand in other parts of the world. Promote the sharing of best practices with other regions.
Build, lead and maintain a high performance team of highly capable and professional individuals. Work closely with relevant HR representative in coaching, developing, motivating the marketing talents within the team.
Performs other assignments and projects as requested by superiors based on business needs.
EXPERIENCE:
An experienced, well-rounded marketer with a minimum of 10 years experience in marketing and management and management with admired multinational FMCG companies and solid China experience.
Solid track record in building multiple brands in China is important.
Be an effective and pragmatic leader. Possession of leadership attributes of strategic thinking, and the ability to drive for results, innovate, lead courageously, influence others, build talents, engage and inspire others.
Able to learn and adapt quickly to a challenging environment in the consumer dynamics and in the competitive landscape.
Ability to lead and take the initiative to address emerging market, consumer, and competition trends and to assess business situations and market situations to identify and prioritize brand-building opportunities based on the market and consumer information.
Track record of leading a brand team, successfully developing and launching brands over the short, medium and long term.
Solid understanding of how TVC works in China and the impact to the target consumers.
Experienced in partnering with the advertising agencies in creatively developing both ATL and BTL initiatives.
Influential communications skills - the ability to concisely and persuasively communicate ideas to management, partners and agencies; and positively influence their stakeholders of their POVs.
University degree ideally in marketing or business related area is preferred but not a must.
Fluency (both verbal and written) in English is a must. Mandarin (spoken, and preferably reading and writing) is certainly an advantage.
