Specific Responsibilities

1.1 Schedule Laboratory in-process & final testing/inspection activities and raw materials incoming inspection in order to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency.

1.2 Develop and establish testing & calibration procedures to support Laboratory operations.

1.3 Support effective Laboratory operations selection, development, training and motivation of personnel.

1.4 Provide technical assistance to Manufacturing, Engineering and other support departments on testing/calibration procedures and operations.

1.5 Participate in material review board activities, failures analysis and corrective action investigations, and assist in the timely disposition and processing of nonconforming material.

1.6 Participate and assist in the performance of customer and Industry accreditation audits of testing and calibration issues. Take action and provide effective evidence to close relevant findings/observations in time.

1.7 Assist Lab Manager to coordinate and conduct customer and accreditation audits of the laboratory operations.

1.8 Perform internal audit/surveys, where applicable, to assure compliance to specific quality / customer requirements. Validate gage/test machine and procedure for assigned program(s) or product area(s).

1.9 Support calibration lab to ensure that Gage calibration system is effective and complies with company operating procedures.

1.10 Participate as assigned on process improvement teams or other continuous improvement groups.

1.11 Assist lab manager to maintain a record and documentation system for testing that complies with both Alcoa Fastening Systems and customer accreditation requirements.

1.12 Keep work area clean, safe and in orderly fashion on daily basis

1.13 Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and practices. Report all unsafe activities to lab manager / human resources.

1.14 Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

1.15 Receive very general guidance with respect to overall objectives; work is usually quite independent of others; operate within division or departmental policy guidelines using independent judgement in achieving objectives.

1.16 Perform other duties as assigned by lab manager.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university in Material Engineering or mechanical engineering, or 4 years test/calibration engineering experience in laboratory.

Experience, Background, and Skills

1.1 Knowledge of metal materials testing equipment and practices, including tensile, shear and fatigue testing, also have knowledge of metallurgical evaluation procedures. Must have experience with mechanical inspection equipment such as micrometers, Optical Comparators, Hardness testers, and Torque testers.

1.2 Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, or material testing standard/specification in English and Chinese.

1.3 Ability to write test/calibration reports, test/calibration procedure in Chinese.

1.4 Ability to provide technical support of testing/calibration procedure, test machine operations, as well as provide effective training for technicians/inspectors and operators.

1.5 Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

1.6 Proficient personal computer skills, including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

1.7 Basic knowledge of inspection measuring and testing equipment, and SPC methods,

1.8 Experience with AS9100 and NADCAP or coordinative certification process.

Alcoa Fastening Systems (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. is located in SIP (Suzhou Industrial Park). Start operating on this location since 2006. There are two facilities, one for Aerospace products and one for Industrial products. The main products are Aerospace commercial Fasteners and Industrial Fasteners.
