Day to Day Responsibilities:

-Participate in developing and implementing manufacturing processes

that involve glass, fiber/cable, life science, environmental technology

regarding to chemical reaction, polymer synthesis and mechanism.

-Defining and analyzing equipment performance, capability and requirements,

co-work on stage 2-3 development/testing and stage 4-5 technology migration.

-Work with research & development teams for new processes and product

development and introductions.

-Transfer of technology to divisions and manufacturing plants with full

implementation of training and documentation systems (Standard Operation

- Procedures, Process Set-points, FMEA, MSDS, Rosh and Training)

-Conduct process improvement experiments and manufacturing studies.

-Statistics analysis of manufacturing and experimental data to find process

upset root causes and appropriate solution. Utilize data analysis techniques

to reduce cycle- time, improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce loss,

and implement improved processes and new products.

-Involve in process variability reductions, manufacturing capability and

process control for consistent performance, material utilization, product quality,

process optimization and cost reductions.

-Plan, execute & document experimental designs related to cycle time reduction,

product & process development, loss reduction & increasing Mfg efficiency.

-Assess risks of chemical application in engineering, technologies and

manufacturing.

-Recommend suitable substitutes for related industrial application.

-Evaluate new materials/process for current or upcoming manufacturing, including

benefit, cost, waste treatment and side-effect assessment.

-Work on joint teams with production and technology to improve yield, throughput,

and cycle time and process uptime improvements.

-Process engineering study and implementation of final products final inspection,

data collection, and quality controls to meet customer specifications.

-Be consulted for the information of process control and lesson learned

regarding to projects experiences and backgrounds. Open conferences

to direct processes and share technologies to individual division and

manufacturing plants.

-Effective communication in interdisciplinary teams. Organize opinions

from team members, customers and vendors. Execute project plan,

tasks and schedule effectively as a lead of a technical team.

-Job requires periodic travel to Corning Incorporated and suppliers

locations in Asia and USA for process development for new products,

new operation and process improvement projects.

-Increase customers’ awareness of process control efforts, methodology

and process analysis techniques.

Education & Experience

-BS/MS Degree in engineering or science field- Applied Chemistry, Material, Specialty

Chemical, Material Science, Pharmaceutical, or Petrochemical, Biochemical and

Photoelectric.

-Master degree in engineering with strong Analytical statistics and mathematics is a plus

Experience

-6~10 years professional chemical engineering process experience in

a manufacturing facility, ideally with responsibility for preventing

and problem solving in a high technology manufacturing process environment.

-Specifically in industry where products are derived from the application

of advanced technology processes that convert raw materials into

keystone components.

-Ability to directly analyze fundamental root cause of process problem and

implement optimal solutions. Knowledge of organic analytical techniques,

e.g. Optical microscopy, and AFM. Ability to work with inorganic analytical

techniques, e.g. SEM-EDX

Required Skills

-Fundamental knowledge of Chemical engineering in material synthesis,

chemical reaction mechanism, characters (hazard) of usual chemical

agents & biochemistry, crystallization, coating, ion exchange

(e.g. glass strengthening / tempering / toughening), de-alkalization,

and etching process.

-Knowledge of process control/process discipline, SPC, DOE, Statistics,

DMAIC, Taguchi and Total Quality methods.

-Working knowledge of decision making or potential problem solving

techniques, e.g. Kepner Tregoe, is a plus.

-Proficient in English and an Asian/Pacific (Japanese/Mandarin) Rim language.

-Good written and oral skills are essential.

Desired Skills

- Good writing skill and concept in technical report, paper and patent.

Reading capability in English papers and journals is also required.

-Very strong communication skills with ability to concisely communicate

key issues and concepts to people at a variety of levels (from high levels of management

to line operators working in the factory floor)

-International project experience involving installation, and start up of processes

in an automated, clean room and glass/ceramic manufacturing environments.

minimal amount of supervision.

-Ability to work in a team based environment and participate on a matrix

project team.

-Has served as a team leader of 2-3 engineers in manufacturing environment.
