Principle Accountability (General Responsibilities)
Develop and promote a healthy and safe work environment by overseeing all aspects of Occupational Health and Safety. Lead food security team.
Duties (Detailed daily responsibilities)
Implement a comprehensive Safety Management System across various functional departments.
Guarantee the compliance with local and national law/regulations. Develop the safety management documents system with the required standards.
Manage the Health and Safety training schedule for the site, which will include delivery of training and arranging external service providers.
Perform internal audits of the McCain Safety Management System and develop on-going improvement strategies to reach improvement targets.
Drive root cause preventative action closure of audit findings within required deadlines.
Implement and manage detailed activity plans to ensure completion of all identified OH&S related tasks to ensure on-going safety improvement.
Analyze incident and injury trends to identify training deficiencies, behavioral issues, or other opportunities for operations and work flow improvements.
Ensure compliance to the relevant OH&S legislation as well as supporting the current Workers Compensation & rehabilitation resource on site.
Implement awareness programs to increase employee involvement along with influencing cultural and personnel adaptation to Health and Safety Programs.
Provide leadership in effectively communicating and influencing facility employees and managers to continuously improve performance towards achieving (and exceeding) regional safety goals and objectives.
Provide timely Health and Safety statistical reporting in line with McCain Foods global requirements.
Support the site Safety Committee’s in achieving their goals in Policy development and risk reduction.
Drive safety improvement through involvement in the Site Leadership Teams.
Participate in networking and initiative sharing with other OH&S resources in the region.
Being a member of the Food defense team to ensure the product not contaminated by any activities.
Education, Training and Experience Required
Relevant tertiary qualification – (preferred but not essential).
5+ years of experience and a proven track record of successfully implementing Health and Safety programs and compliance in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication skills – both written and oral.
Strong interpersonal skill/customer skills and the ability to lead and influence teams, drive change and interact cross-functionally.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and drive multiple programs.
