GENERAL SUMMARY:
As a Designer, your focus will be on managing the design and development process of apparel pieces by classification, from concept through flat sketch and initial spec through final prototype with limited supervision. Candidates will have a passion for the brand and customer, a strong eye for trend and color, great style, excellent with product details, strong communication and organization skills.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fully responsible for entire product design process to include market research, mood board creation, designing, sketching, "specing" and fit
Responsible for researching global markets in order to identify new trends, fabrics, techniques, etc.
Actively participates in the conceptual development of product lines (i.e., sells ideas/concepts and convinces others to adopt a course of action)
Create and implement direction for each season including edits to line, new concepts, etc.
Provides insight regarding style and fit of product during presentation
Ensures that product is consistent with market trends as well as business strategy
Conducts fit sessions; responsible for final approval for sample fit
Creates color palette for area to be reviewed by Merchandise Director
Responsible for fabric and trim selection
Meets independently with vendors
Ability to manage multiple seasons within category
Ability to direct and develop junior Designers
Ability to clearly present line and communicate with President.
Works with technical designer to ensure tech packages are accurate and complete
Partnering with merchants and knows business and sales side of category and applying this knowledge to creation of new seasons


QUALIFICATIONS


Strong computer knowledge: Illustrator, PDM, Acrobat & Excel
Strong design and conceptual skills
Ability to design around concepts
Ability to design logo, artwork and branding
Strong sense of style and color
Thorough knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, color ways, sewing techniques, graphics and trim
Strong organizational, time management, communication and presentation skills
Proactive. Enjoys working in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment
Ability to work in a small team
Good understanding of merchandising as it relates to sales and store environment
3 or 4 year college degree in Fashion Design or related field
3-5 years of design experience
Required to travel to Hong Kong, China, Southeast Asia and internationally
Fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin
