PARTTIME RESEARCHER: ONLINE MEDIA & ONLINE ADVERTISING
ABOUT THE COMPANY
OTR Global (OTR？), founded in 1995, is a leading investment research and agency-trading boutique with offices in North America, Europe and Asia. The recognized leader in marketplace research, OTR pioneered its channel-checking methodology by developing a comprehensive base of industry sources and an in-depth understanding of complex, global product supply chains and distribution channels. OTR's unique approach relies on journalistic principles and is utilized by the firm's more than 130 research personnel located in more than 18 countries.
OUR PRODUCTS
OTR aggregates, compares and contrasts extensive marketplace data and prepares research reports for institutional investors (primarily mutual funds and hedge fund managers). Sources are interviewed via telephone, typically on a quarterly basis, which subsequently provides the basis for OTR reports. OTR's mission is to aggregate information from nontraditional sources, compare it with expectations and look for dislocations or inflection points that provide investment opportunities for our clients.
THE ROLE
The Media Researcher (based in Shanghai, Guangzhou, or Chengdu) will work closely with the China Media Senior Researcher to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence for the global investment community. The ideal candidate will possess extensive industry contacts and demonstrate the ability to develop new relationships with key industry contacts who can speak to strategic trends in the media advertising industry with an emphasis on online advertising, media strategy, and mobile internet. Applicants must be able to speak, interview, write and read Chinese with a high level of fluency. The Media Researcher reports to the China Media Senior Researcher.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
？ Experience working in or reporting on the media advertising with an emphasis on online advertising; prior experience at large local media advertising agencies in China a plus
？ Strong media background and deep knowledge of internet and mobile internet
？ Ideal candidate has an extensive established network of media buyers contacts
？ Ability to network and successfully develop new sources; ability to reengage previously developed sources on a recurring basis
？ Ability to obtain in-depth interviews and accurately capture detailed notes
？ Ability to analyze and identify essential findings; spot trends and provide context
？ Ability to meet project deadlines, and proactively communicate with project manager is critical; English writing skills are preferable
？ Ability to handle workload of 2+ projects per month (3-4 source interviews per project)
？ A native Chinese born speaker and citizen who is based in Shanghai, Guangzhou, or Chengdu.
？ Understanding of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
？ This is a telecommuting (work remotely) part time position
