EY Technology supports our technology needs through three business units:

Client Technology (CT) - focuses on developing new technology services for our clients. It enables EY to identify new technology-based opportunities faster and pursue those opportunities more rapidly.

Enterprise Technology (ET) – ET supports our Core Business Services functions and will deliver fit-for-purpose technology infrastructure at the cheapest possible cost for quality services. ET will also support our internal technology needs by focusing on a better user experience.

Information Security (Info Sec) - Info Sec prevents, detects, responds and mitigates cyber-risk, protecting EY and client data, and our information management systems.

The opportunity

The Security Support Engineer provides a level of advanced, hands-on technical support for execution of the daily management, administration, and maintenance activities aligned to managing and coordinating activities related to encryption, network, SIEM and various endpoint technologies. The successful candidate will provide Operational support of a wide variety of security related products used at EY. The Security Support engineer will assist with the identification, implementation, support, and audit inquires of security technologies designed to protect data on information systems. The role maintains accurate information and data and operates according to established security policies and standards.

Your key responsibilities

The role requires advanced analytical skills along with technical knowledge and understanding of security standards. The role is expected to make sound decisions to address any user and management concerns related to data hosted on premise and in Cloud within the respective location. It is also expected that you will bring operational expertise into efforts which introduce new technologies and upgrade current ones.

· Provide technical oversight of Information Security technologies that fall under the team’s responsibilities, confirming they are operating within agreed service levels and at peak possible performance

· Must be able to balance the firm’s security needs with the business impact and benefit. The role requires the ability to deal effectively and efficiently with escalations and time sensitive, difficult situations/people under pressure particularly in the area of restoration of services with information security implications.

· Design, plan, manage, drive and coordinate planned maintenance activities as well as the standardization and automation of processes and procedures for Information Security technologies.

· Represent the team in specific Project activities, including Leading projects and potentially managing the activities of others towards successful completion.

· Articulate technology issues/concerns that may emerge at any level of the technical stack, and from any component across the ecosystem, to senior business and technology leaders

· Support audit inquires and security testing of security technologies

Skills and attributes for success

  • Well defined analytical skills to conduct effective issue analysis so that key issues are properly identified, and effective solutions are provided.
  • Operational experience in a large, enterprise environment having performed detailed troubleshooting of issues, by using their analytical skills and collaborating with other technical teams, stakeholders and internal and external customers
  • Strong functional and/or technical experience in supporting a wide variety of security technologies including endpoint EDR, Encryption, SIEM, Cloud Operations (AliCloud, 21Vianet Blue Cloud)
  • Working knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) to identify industry standards and procedures for Incident, Problem, Change and Knowledge as appropriate.
  • Familiarity with core businesses supported to recognize the impact of security technology issues in order to engage and participate with confidence on escalating issues that impacts a desktop, business or location.
  • Solid interpersonal skills to adapt personal communication styles to the style of others, to engage with all levels of the organization, staying calm under pressure and to maintain and/or restore service in the event of a disruption.
  • Personal time management skills to prioritize workload and work through issues and incidents with efficiency.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in the English language to work effectively with all levels of end users and IT personnel.
  • Working knowledge of both Windows desktop and server operating systems as well as familiarity with the Linux Operating systems.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics; computer related field, Cyber Security is preferred; or equivalent work experience.
  • Approximately 6-8 years of security experience including demonstratable knowledge of multiple security technologies including encryption and endpoint security
  • GSEC/CISSP or other security related generalist certification from ISC2 or GIAC a plus
  • The ability to train & coach staff in technical processes and practices.
  • Several years’ experience working in a large global virtual environment
  • Strong English language skills – written and verbal
  • Knowledge of security engineering and associated security controls and standards.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL v2 or v3 Foundations training - preferred)
