Role Description:

Dow Chemical recently announced the creation of regional satellite Digital Operations Centers. The Digital Operations Center is a critical component in enabling Dow's Digital Strategy and in accelerating the Manufacturing 4.0 Program. The new satellite center will be located in Shanghai, China and will include a blend of resources from Operations, Manufacturing & Engineering, I/S, and Diamond Systems Solutions and will collaborate closely with other key functions. The extended team will initially focus on robotics, artificial intelligence and cross reality to digitalize Dow’s operations. This multidisciplinary team will facilitate rapid prototyping of new capabilities to enhance the competitive position of Dow's manufacturing and site facilities.

The Digital Operations Center has created an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Robotics System Engineer

This position will be located in Shanghai, China.

Primary Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Development of new robotics systems to support the Technology Roadmap.

• Work with a global Robotics development team to support development.

• Work with cross-functional team to integrate other technologies such as Machine Learning, sensor technology, etc.

• Lead development projects from defining customer requirement to a validated proof of concept.

• Support Proof-of-Concept trials on location.

• Research, evaluate and report on emerging robotics technologies.

• Participate in Regional Industry Event to identify new and emerging technology.

• Evaluate robotic software technologies.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Level Degree in robotics, engineering, computer science or equivalent.

• Three to five years of hands on experience with robots and robotic systems.

• Familiarity with robotics industry and field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Robot Operating System (ROS), Linux, CAD (i.e. Solidworks)

• Ability to work in a team development project using Agile scrum or similar.

• Experience in developing / implementing mobile robotic systems.

• Experience with microcontrollers.

• Graduate degree in robotics, engineering, computer science or equivalent.

• Knowledge of network technologies including internet, web and cloud API's.

• Experience in architecting robotic software, hardware and technology development path

• Basic Circuit design and soldering skills

• Experience with 3D printing
