Purpose of this Function:

Secure the key processes in product development, lead and manage people within assigned area of function or specific categories. The Engineering Manager assumes specific functional responsibility for product development process ensuring the product developed are safe, durable, functional and meeting customer requirements by using right materials and constructions. He/she ensures the competence of people and process in order to deliver the right product within the specific timeline.

Purpose of the Job:

Lead the engineering and quality aspects of new products and meeting customer requirements for its intended function. The Engineering Manager will lead activities connected to product engineering and construction improvement of existing products to secure good quality and compliance to all relevant requirements. This job is carried out in close cooperation with production QA, Product engineers and merchandiser teams. The Engineering Manager will ensure overall performance, secure right competence within the functional area assigned and lead the key processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and secure

• The execution of the technical, quality & engineering strategy within functional area across all product categories.

• Secure proactive actions by analysing customer feedback and translate it into concrete projects/actions, focusing on improving product quality/Materials and components.

• Execute and secure key milestones within the product development, together with merchandising teams

• Develop key processes within engineering departments and implement them across assigned functional areas.

• Critical to Safety and Quality parameters implemented to eliminate or mitigate risks.

• Clear communication to production Quality Assurance, product engineers and vendors to secure the p Fabric sourcing according to Innovation or from fairs

• Co-operate Merchandise on tech support in fabric area, include weaving, dying & finishing

• Fabric mill sourcing, visit and capability identify

• reconditions needed to improve overall business performance.

Implement & Follow up

• The key processes and requirements according to WSI requirements

• Key activities and process requirements according to action plan within product development and engineering agenda for the department.

• Damage and Quality improvement actions and targets for the team.

• Product development speed and efficiency

Desirable Qualifications and Competencies:

Core Competences:

- Very good knowledge of home furnishing products. Understands constructions, materials, product and quality levels, technical requirements and protocols for the home furnishing product range.

- Leads, engages with and actively influences an integrated approach to quality assurance with the different operational teams.

• Continually assesses and evaluate the engineering team to ensure their continuous development and performance is reflected in results.

• Good understanding about the product development cycles and process, manufacturing processes and technologies.

• Very good knowledge of the product requirements, regulatory standards and test requirements. Must be familiar with the requirements in CPSIA, AATTC, Prop 65, F963, ASTM, BIFMA , British Requirement BSEN, ISO, FIRA, REACH & familiar with Australia, Korea, Japan, Chile, Middle East , France, Germany, China requirements add to advantage.

• Convert strategy into tactics and set operational plans and secure execution in the product category/region/specific area of responsibility.

• Very good in communicating, leading people, and liaising with overseas designers/product development team as required.

• Minimum of 10 year hands on experience in leading people and process within senior management.

• Understanding of product and materials value chain and cost aspects.
