Essential Duties and Responsibilities
？ Assists Product Management in developing achievable product specifications that meet customer requirements. May participate in development of the market research data.
？ Coordinates new product and competitive product testing and evaluation.
？ Initiate activities required for product certification by industry code agencies.
？ Generates creative ideas for new products and/or improvements to current products.
？ Prepares complex design layouts and/or sketches for new product designs and design improvements to existing product lines.
？ Establishes project cost estimates for the annual budgeting process.
？ Accountable for the technical accuracy and quality of work, including routine analytical analysis, design alternative assessments, stress, computational fluid dynamics and mold flow calculations, failure mode and effect analysis, tolerance studies, part and material metrology, assembly accuracy and system function to specification.
？ Responsible for the engineering project schedules and budgets. The schedule to include timelines for tasks to be completed by engineering and other supporting departments.
？ Analyzes first article data and provides recommendations for approvals and/or corrective actions.
？ Coordinates the creation and execution of product development evaluation, final validation and early prototype field testing test plans to ensure all product design specifications are met.
？ Supports production following engineering and pilot assembly builds for verification of product quality and user acceptance.
？ May technically supervise Technicians, Designers or other Engineers. Will organize their workload, review designs and provide constructive feedback.
？ Provide feedback about the team member performance to the functional manager for annual performance reviews.
？ Proactively identifies and solves problems in molding and assembly operations.
？ Leads cross-functional design reviews to ensure the design meets the customer requirements and can be cost effectively manufactured.
？ Interfaces with Quality personnel to develop reproducible inspection plans and gauging systems.
？ Verifies the design with Quality to audit all critical dimensions and performance requirements during production.
？ Coordinates the implementation of design improvements to existing products to decrease costs improve performance or resolve reliability issues.
？ Leads complex precision plastic and electro-mechanical innovation programs to ensure successful design, development and launch of new, innovative products using balanced mix of internal and external resources.
？ Proactively develops solutions to program challenges.
？ Ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and customers (i.e., sales, marketing, and management) are delighted with the outcome.
？ Must have demonstrated competencies working highly effective teams across geographically disperse resources, including internationally.
？ Is able to drive all aspects of a program from inception, through development, validation, manufacturing transfer and scale up then product launch.
？ Owns the documentation of program goals, including the detailed Product Requirements and test results.
？ Identifies key trade-off decisions and drives the team to timely produce the information necessary to make these decisions.
？ Technically supports the OEM, Professional and Retail sales channel relationships, both domestically and internationally.
？ Performs all other duties as required.

Education, Skills and Experience
？ Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited university or demonstrated ability through practical experience to perform technical and project management responsibilities required in this position.
？ High energy and the ability to multi-task across projects.
？ 10 years or above of demonstrated “hands-on” experience for the product design.
？ Exhibits excellent team participation skills, viewing issues from a total business perspective.
？ Exhibits strong technical savvy, excellent time and project management skills and a sound problem-solving acumen.
？ Ideal candidate will have 8 years experience in the plumbing industry or the field of fluid dynamics with exposure to high volume plastic manufacturing of consumer goods.
？ High volume plastic injection molding and/or elastomeric part design experience and related material compatibility is a plus.
？ Proficiency in the following is highly desirable:
o Pro-Engineer (CREO)
o Windchill
o FEA
o CFD
o GD&T
o DFMEA & PFMEA
o SPC
o Mini-Tab or similar
o APQP
o Tollgate new product development process
o Broad root cause and problem solving methodologies
？ Must have strong administrative skills including computer proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY
Fluidmaster is a category leader in the plumbing industry with three core Customer vertical markets: Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Wholesale and Retail Aftermarket, both Domestic and International. Domestic US Retail is currently the largest segment and profit driver with the OEM channel providing the launching pad for new product development and future revenues. The Fluidmaster brand strength and corporate image is synonymous with excellent product quality, efficient and global high volume manufacturing operations and an innovation heritage. The successful growth of Fluidmaster is and will be heavily dependent on its ability to expand and deepen its OEM and international aftermarket business, while maintaining its dominant US retail market position.
Fluidmaster is creating a new Senior Manufacturing Engineering position in the Fluidmaster China (FMC) location in Zhongshan, China. This is a core position within Engineering and a key liaison role between the Product Engineering and Operations Organizations. The job demands bringing high value across a myriad of areas, e.g.: technically and collaboratively owning manufacturing improvement and automation projects, providing direct attention to key partners and suppliers in the local area, developing and implementing product design related cost reductions, offering sound Design For Manufacturability (DFM) input and process development on new product development projects, and root cause support.
