Overview
TE Connectivity (TE) has an opportunity for an Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) Automation professional
with strong technical and team working capabilities in establishing global integrated automation platforms in a leading
electrical component manufacturing company. The individual shall be an expert to deep dive into and to develop the
next generation automation technologies in an integrated system that uses machine vision, programmable logic
controllers (PLC), and robots in a flexible modular platform. Low cost flexible modular automation with integration of
advanced manufacturing to design engineering systems is also part of the desired technical capabilities.
This is a rare opportunity to join a high performing organization in a new global role, reporting to the AMT Automation
Manager, who reports directly to the Vice President: Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, as part of the corporate
Technology team. This role will be a focal point of TE global mass customized flexible modular automation with
technical expertise on current leading edge and next generation automation technologies. This position will have the
responsibility for establishing various automation modular flexible platforms at TE manufacturing sites worldwide.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
1. Participating in creating cross-business flexible system automation technology roadmaps to define, innovate,
and implement the technologies that TE business units will need to be successful. Working with the business
units to define and to implement the lab and advanced automation development projects.
2. Innovate and develop key parameters and to analyze them for flexible manufacturing processes. Identify
levels of technologies should be sourced internally or externally. Using discrete event simulation and Monte
Carlo simulation for such analytical work is highly desired.
3. Participating in an advanced automation technology strategy, assisting and measuring its implementation and
the results of the implementation. Practice six sigma and some of the design of experiments for better
qualities at implementation as needed.
4. Continually learning and leading automation technologies and market trends. Match business strategies to
seek new system integration technology opportunities that may be appropriate for TE.
5. As a system integration technical expert to address and to develop and/or execute related automation projects
and strategies.
6. Significant involvement in automation opportunities allowing for the seamless transition of new products to
assembly facilities.
7. Working with intellectual property (IP) managers and legal teams to innovate and to strengthen TE IP
strategies and portfolios in advanced manufacturing automation technology.
8. Shared responsibility for capital budget for automation for the global assembly and automation department.

Key Requirements:
1. A strong technically oriented engineer with clearly demonstrated experience and a track record of deploying new machine vision automation technologies;
2. At least 5 years, for Bachelor degree, or 2 years for Master degree, technical experiences in manufacturing automation with a detailed knowledge of current automation technologies for precision electromechanical manufacture and/ or optical system manufacture;
3. Excellent commercial and business acumen with deep experience in analyzing current technologies and capabilities on the market;
4. Adept at the integration of engineering design systems to manufacturing automation systems for various volume and mix combinations;
5. Experienced in the development of specific automation manufacturing systems incorporating flexible and modular automation;
6. Ability to communicate technical ideas, vision and inspire people at every level to deliver and execute automation platforms of the Technology organization;
7. Experienced in matrix management with a track record of being able to follow, to lead, and to collaborate by influencing Technology activities cross business units;
8. Very experienced in mechanical design with Solidworks and/or Pro E;Solid mathematics background; industrial robot programming skills or C/C++ programming skills are a plus

Minimum Professional Background Desired:
1. A demonstrated track record of successfully and effectively driving step change in automation through technological improvements;
2. Experience in Engineering Integration and Technology Operations;
3. Experienced in Mechanical design using Solidworks and/or Pro E;
4. Strong global industrial automation experiences with time spent working and living in China is preferred;
5. Willingness to travel frequently, and as necessary, to support a global technology organization with significant presence in China and other regions;
6. BA/BS degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline, advanced engineering degree (MS/ME/PhD) strongly preferred.
