Role Synopsis

The role of Distributor Business Manager is to develop and strengthen our distributor network in areas where we have limitations in going direct, and where lower cost to serve model is preferred. This model will help us to:

Service customers in remote locations, i.e. better reach by distributors;

Fragmented markets;

Non-core segments;

Deal offers;

Tail accounts where a low cost to serve model is essential.


Key Accountabilities

1. Keep strong HSSE bias and fully align with company Code of Conduct regulation.

2. Play a proactive role in developing and implementing channel plan, for current and future channel options within industrial market;

3. Liaise with relative teams to ensure sound communication and transfer of best practices in channel management. In particular, work closely with Distributor management team and Marketing segment team on all channel management including but not limited to:

a. Standardize the recruiting process to make sure we have the “right” distributors in line with systematic requirements, in terms of its sales forces, service engineers, oil experience, admin. Infrastructure, warehouse etc;

b. Align with the standard distributor policy including legal contract, debts control, right & duty, price etc.

c. Offer the right training level including product, service, selling skill, negotiation skill etc;

d. Guild the sales tactics;

e. Coordinate the response in terms of better service to end customers;

f. Manage the brand activity including distributor’s name card, w/h, delivery van, brochure, workshop etc.

g. Benchmark and introduce good practice from competitors or Industrial business globally, e.g. incentive/rebate policies, sponsorship etc.

4. Make insightful recommendations to senior management in relation to business strategy and organization to ensure undisputed leader in the targeted market.

5. Complete other sales related activities like monthly sales forecasting, product trial run, marketing promotions etc. toward company requirement.

6. Carry out all required documentation punctually and to the required standard.


Essential Education

Minimum a recognized university degree preferably in mechanical / chemical engineering

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

1. 2-3 years channel management experience in industrial consumable industry.

2. Self-driven, motivated

3. Adapt to changes and working under stress

4. Fluent in English (both written and oral)

5. Good computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word

6. Good communication skills.


Desirable Criteria and Qualifications

Lubricants experience is preferred though not mandatory
