Our client is a global specialty chemicals and materials company focused on developing, manufacturing and selling value-added products. Their products are widely applied in aerospace, adhesive, automotive and industrial coatings, chemical intermediates, inks, mining, plastics and other industries. To cope with their business development and expansion, our client is now seeking a high caliber candidate to fill the Supply Chain Director
Job Scope:
- Responsible for all purchasing activities and organization in the region (Includes Raw Materials, MRO, Services & Energy Purchases)
- Member of global business teams. Helps set and drive the global BU strategies while providing proactive market information to help the BU obtain and sustain a competitive advantage
- Ensures best practices, identifies, implements & executes continuous improvement programs in his region
- Implements global sourcing decisions at regional and global levels
Responsibilities:
- Helps define the global purchasing strategy within the GPLT. Provides GPLT with relevant information.
- As the global lead for raw materials assigned to him by GPLT
- Develops upstream and downstream market and product knowledge (covering a.o. suppliers, production processes, technologies, capacities usage, supply/demand balance, economics, market trends, etc.)
- Provides GPLT with relevant information, proposes a global placement policy. Is fully responsible for its implementation after agreement in GPLT and monitors results
- Negotiates at global level
- Be the primary interface with suppliers for core products, develops and continuously improve relationship with relevant main suppliers
- Acts as main interface with business units and provides necessary information
- Optimizes the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of assigned core products
- Manages a team of people who maintain global and regional responsibilities
- Defines the regional strategic guidelines, sets and staffs the organization in conformity with global purchasing strategy
- Acts as a global gatekeeper for businesses assigned to him. Supervises global & regional gatekeepers in his/her region
- Acting member of the global CSS leadership team representing procurement
- Follows and implements AOP & PPP for his staff. Provides input to ERP
- May handle directly some regional purchases
- Has overall responsibility for regional objectives which he translates in individual AOP's for his direct reports
- Identifies areas for improvement projects, sets the objectives, assigns the responsible person and insures correct implementation with assistance of continuous improvement project managers
- Accountable for the monthly variance report for his/her region
- Designs, implements, insures adherence to major regional processes and coordinates with other regions (SOX adherence, placement policy, supplier evaluation...)
-Establishes and monitors regional procurement budget, yearly estimates, 5 year plans and coordinates with Procurement Data Manager
- Monitors operating budget
- Defines and implements best practices in function of the different product-categories he has defined
- Establishes a TCO methodology and monitors its implementation across the region
- Leads, develops and coaches the regional procurement organization
Requirementes:
- MBA & College Education with a degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business or Engineering
- Solid Procurement and or business experience, minimum 10 years, with good understanding of the overall business processes; management and organizational experience
- Advanced negotiating and Supply Chain Management skills with specific emphasis on global chemical procurement
- Proven track record of leading and developing large and diverse teams spread out over different regions, countries or states
- Entrepreneurial and process oriented
- Capable of leading/operating in cross-functional teams
- Result oriented, Team player, People skills in multi-lingual,-cultural, -national environment
- Capable of driving strategic change
