• Regulations Experience: Track, document, and communicate state and federal regulations that impact the design, development, manufacture, and application of CI engines sold in the China to appropriate stakeholders.
• Engine Exhaust Certification Application: Plan and submit - new program certification exhaust applications to China regulatory agencies to meet SOP.
• Review and provide input to all the supportive documentation such as AECD disclosure, tamper resistance, adjustable parameter, delegated assembly, application instructions as required through the regulations. 

• Compliance Reporting: Support production-line testing (CoP) activities and emissions control labels for all diesel engines as pertains to China.
• Communicate regular updates on the status of certification applications approval to stake holders.
• Support customer request as it pertains to exhaust emissions.
• Review all the Diesel production changes as it pertains to exhaust emissions and update certification applications accordingly.

• Contribute sound engineering advice and creative new ideas, concepts and approaches relative to engine emissions development such as after treatment (TWC, DPF, DOC, SCR) sizing and appropriate architecture.
• Develop and maintain strong relationship with internal and external test labs

• Review emissions certification test results and proactively communicate information or issues to engineering, manufacturing and quality functions.
• Counsel and train less senior engineers and technical support personnel in technical areas as required or requested.

·       Must be a self-starter that can work independently to complete tasks with high level of complexity with minimal direction.

·       Demonstrated ability to identify and assess risks and seek guidance from responsible individual.

·       Demonstrated ability to negotiate within and outside Kohler organization, specifically regulatory agencies.

·       Review all the changes to Diesel engine configuration as it pertains to China certification

·       Review, identify gaps and proactively layout process & work instructions

·       Drive process and procedures improvements as needed.

·       Support Kohler participation at various industry organizations.

·       Requires up to 15% travel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS  

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program required. Master’s degree preferred.
• 6 or more years of experience.
• Experience with Emissions Regulations.
• Experience with Emissions Testing & associated equipment is required.
• Good knowledge of internal combustion engine
• Supervisory experience with salaried and hourly associates is preferred.
• Demonstrate strength in regulations, emissions testing, equipment and engines.
• Experience with Emissions regulations, testing and associated equipment is preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electronic aptitude, ability to apply engineering principles and scientific methods.
• Product development experience and emission lab experience are strongly preferred.
• Fluent in both spoken and written English.
