JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary of the function

This function will support the production department with respect to troubleshooting related to automation and control of equipment and various manufacturing systems for data acquisition. The incumbent will also design and implement corrective measures for control systems, SCADA and communication networks for production equipment.
Main tasks & responsibilities

? Support the production department : quick, efficient, safe and documented machine troubleshooting;
? Perform troubleshooting and programming of data acquisition systems of the network equipment;
? Implement improvements to eliminate problems encountered during production;
? Validate the modifications made during the interventions according to the validation plans;
? Document changes to the PLC, HMI, robots, SCADA, networks and others;
? Produce documentation needed to troubleshoot equipment;
? Maintain up to date electrical drawings and network architecture;
? Coach production employees for efficient use of equipment (via HMI);
? Monitor the progress of the work of various OEM’s and verify their conformity with our specifications;
? Produce and follow the deadlines of assigned projects;
? Participate in the installation and implementation of new equipment and systems;
? Develop the electrical design of new equipment (automation, control and power) and produce the drawings and specifications;
? Program PLCs and HMIs for new equipment;
? Develop programming standards and processes to ensure seamless production;
? Ensure that the systems conform to current standards (electricity and safety);
? Any other related duties;

COMPETENCY PROFILE

Required knowledge

? Programming programmable automates (Grafcet, Ladder et Remote I/O),
? PLC/HMI Siemens (including safety PLC) and programming languages;
? Programming, manipulation and troubleshooting of industrial robots (YSR, an asset);
? Industrial computer networks;
? SCADA systems;
? SQL databases;
? Electricity code and local standards;
? Software of electrical drawings (on ACAD, an asset).

Required skills & qualities

？ Diagnose and solve automation, robot, SCADA and various network problems;
？ Select simple, efficient and robust resolution methods;
？ Conduct an synthesis of issues encountered in order to define permanent corrective measures;
？ Work and communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary team;
？ Be able to anticipate potential failure modes of equipment and manufacturing processes;
？ Make decisions based on the analysis of data and conditions collected;
？ Effectively manage multiple issues while ensuring timeliness;

Criteria to be considered when hiring

? Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or automated production;
? Apprentice electrician class, an asset;
? Bilingual, spoken and written (English and Mandarin), essential;
? Available for business travel;
? Capable of obtaining necessary authorizations from authorities for travel outside China.

Required experience

? Miniumum 10 years of relevant experience in automation or instrumentation and control in a highly automated manufacturing plant.
