General Purpose/Objective:

This position is primarily responsible for process engineering support at a customer of extruded material. Duties include the optimization, characterization, and documentation of feed stock materials to meet product requirements and assisting the customer’s manufacturing operation in problem-solving and optimization of product, equipment and test systems. Also responsible for developing and implementing new process formulas and technologies to reduce cost and improve product quality for existing and new product designs. This position may also support a silicone molding process at a different location in the same area

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Works with customer to optimize overall manufacturing process including raw material formulation, equipment, operating conditions, and testing.

· Defines and performs incoming quality control inspection and test of raw materials.

· Defines outgoing quality control of raw materials and establishes the raw material requirements.

· Performs process and product qualification / validation.

· Establishes and maintains methods for and oversees or performs calibration and maintenance of test equipment.

· Performs training of product test methods and interpretation of data.

· Responsible for the Technical Interface with suppliers.

_{Required Qualifications:}

·

· Bachelor Degree in engineering or materials science strongly preferred or ten plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Experience in plastic extrusion industry required.

· Experience in optical or colormetric testing a plus.

· Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Use of continuous improvement, quality tools and statistical process control methodologies.

· Significant travel required.
