Warehouse Material Handling Specialist (Warehouse Management)
General
Coordinate day to day activities of material receiving, handling, storage and shipment of goods in a store or warehouse.
Responsible and accountable for operations of all warehouse functions
Safety
Coordinates safety and ergonomics issues for the department
Coordinates mobile equipment needs with Logistics Leadership
Ensure hazardous material compliance for material business processes as required
Monitor all warehouse activities to ensure goods are stored correctly and safely.
Promotes, educates, communicates and follows-up on safety initiatives
Maintains housekeeping in area
Supervise staff and is responsible for the proper use and care of equipment
People
Coordinates initial work assignments/line and/or labor balance, routing activities.
Prioritise and assign tasks to ensure that the team's resources are used effectively and thatwork schedules and targets are met.
Replaces Material Handling Manager as required
Maintains department hourly vacation schedule, overtime equalization, etc.
Coordinates activities of indirect crib
Trains new workers in the organisation's operating procedures and standards
Quality
Supports and participates in prototype, pilot and model change programs
Audits and supports all floor requirements to maintain compliance to QPS elements
Maintains ISO standards
Ensure data entry to maintain up to date stock records, respond to status enquiries, stock levels, receiving/shipping status etc.
Responsiveness
Maintains constant contact with production floor operations to support their needs
Ensures that there is sufficient inventory to meet the organisation's needs through effective stock management.
Represents the department in various activities or committees as required
Supports changes to improve existing conditions (layouts, ergonomics, routings, tooling, facilities, and material) and communicate requirements through implementation
Supports plant floor Plan for Every Part activity (packaging, DLOC, ULOC, Min/Max, piece bank)
Utilizes appropriate inventory controls and follows up
Develops inventory levels & proper reorder levels for all crib items and explains all gain/loss reasons as necessary
Suggests adds/deletes items in crib based on stocking criteria
Determines order formula codes and assigns the base account & default account to crib items
Cost
Coordinates floor related suggestions
Support Implementation and reports CIP
Supports physical and system stock figures (cycle counts, adjustments, etc...)
Monitor the scorecard reporting process
Participates in departmental/functional Gap Closure Planning Process
Provides input into budget development based on Annual Plans and ongoing Gap Closure Planning
Documents plans/ideas for future years business planning
Identifies and eliminates obsolete material from stock
Achieves work group budget
Support the departments cost reduction initiatives and gap closure requirements
