PMC’s Communications Products Division Applications Engineering team is focused on helping our key customers understand and integrate PMC-Sierra devices into their products. CPD Applications Engineers are the technical experts for a family of products or technologies used in a variety of end applications including OTN, SDH, PTN, Carrier Ethernet, Mobile Backhaul, Wireless Base Station, and other Wireline Infrastructure products.

Applications Engineers work directly with customer design teams and maintain this technical relationship throughout the customer development cycle. They also work closely with PMC Sales and Marketing teams to develop technical architecture proposals that meet demanding customer requirements. Applications engineers author detailed system design guidelines, design comprehensive reference hardware platforms for customer evaluation, and assist customers in troubleshooting their systems.

Division: Communications Products Division (CPD)

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager of CPD Applications Group, you can look forward to:
·Take on the role of key technical expert and primary customer contact responsible for a product or family of products in our Communications Products Division,
· Work with PMC’s sales and marketing teams to develop innovative solutions that use PMC-Sierra silicon to address customer design requirements,
·Present recommendations for device design,
· Working on a team to design and build hardware and software that demonstrate PMC-Sierra’s latest telecom devices,
· Occasional travel to customer sites may be required,
· Develop training materials for internal and external audience.

Qualifications:

· BS or MS Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
·Strong programming and debugging skills in C/C++ language. Experience with OTN, SDH or Ethernet device drivers.
· Solid understanding of software architecture design.
·Experience with scripting languages (Tcl/Tk, Perl)
· Development and debugging experience with VxWorks and/or Embedded Linux Operating Systems is required.
· Solid understanding of communications protocols (SDH, OTN, Ethernet, TCP/IP)
·Experience with tools and techniques for board-level system design and debug.
· Strong problem solving and hands-on debugging skills are required.
· Experience with Telecom testing equipment.
· Excellent verbal and written communications (Chinese) and strong interpersonal skills are required. Strong English language skills (CET-6) are required.
