PURPOSE
Set-up and maintain all aspects of the Laboratory Information System regarding the flow of information from laboratory
instruments to the final reporting of results. Collaborate with Information Technology, production laboratories, vendors and
laboratory management as necessary in the execution and fulfillment of duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
？ Support, analyze and review daily information flow between the different components of the Laboratory Information
System (LIS). Conduct root cause analysis of recurring issues and determine corrective actions.
？ Design, set-up and validate laboratory instrument interfaces and interface filters to the LIS.
？ Set-up and test specimen routing between laboratories as defined by sponsor specific protocols or individual laboratory
capability/capacity
？ Supervise the validation of vendor software patch/release updates to support or enhance the LIS.
？ Set-up middleware test codes to direct information (results) flow from instruments to the laboratory reporting system.
？ Test and monitor result data integrity between all systems utilized in the results reporting process in compliance with the
relevant accreditation/certification bodies.
？ Provide training to Global Harmonization team and regional laboratory teams, as needed
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
？ Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and
hazardous chemical handling.
？ Knowledge of laboratory equipment, laboratory information systems and laboratory middleware software
？ Advanced computer software and Excel spreadsheet skills
？ Ability to balance multiple priorities
？ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
？ Bachelors Degree and 5 years’ relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a
medical laboratory environment and or IT environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
？ Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers.
？ Extensive use of telephone and face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech.
？ Regular sitting for extended periods of time.
