Our expertise covers onshore and offshore wind, wave and tidal, solar, hydro, micro-generation and bioenergy. Owing to continued growth and high demand for its services, the company is seeking to recruit a Solar PV consultant to join our expanding solar team in China.

Job description

The principal responsibilities of this post include:

. Manage/support solar project developments, providing engineering input from initial assessment through to technical and economic feasibility, due diligence, construction monitoring and acceptance (primarily in the megawatt scale)

. Review and prepare technical documents including specifications, reports, proposals, calculations and contracts

. Site visits in China and abroad

. Provide technical support to clients

. Technical assessment of PV products and equipment

. Promote SgurrEnergy’s solar services in a business development role

. Other ad hoc activities as and when required

Essential criteria

. Undergraduate degree in an engineering or science based subject

. An expert knowledge of solar energy technology and projects

. Ability to manage project work without supervision

. The ability to produce high quality technical reports in English and Chinese, to predefined deadlines

. Strong problem solving and analytical skills

. A flexible and proactive approach

. Reliability and good organisational/project management skills

. Ability to work both individually and as part of a multi-disciplined team

. A confident communicator

. Competent user of main Microsoft packages

. Fluent in English and Chinese, both written and spoken

Desirable criteria

. A postgraduate qualification in an energy related subject with specialisation in solar PV

. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a consultancy environment working on megawatt scale solar PV plants

. Competence in understanding solar EPC and O&M contracts

. Experience in PVSYST PV yield prediction software

. Foreign language skills

. Previous experience in managing a team of engineers

. An understanding of the key technical and commercial aspects of solar projects in China and Asia

Hours: 38.75 hours per week. Occasional evenings to attend meetings
Holidays: Starting 14 days and Chinese public holidays (increasing with length of service)
Contract: Permanent after 5 month probationary period
