Key attributes of the job include:



1 Minimum of University Degree in Chemical Engineering required although occasionally a Degree in chemistry may be sufficient if the person has suitable operational experience in our market areas.

2 Good verbal and written communication skills in English with an ability to relate to every level in our organization as well as our customer's organization.

3 Self-starter with initiative, high degree of integrity, capable of working with minimum supervision once adequately trained

4 Willing to travel 100-150 days per year including client entertainment

5 Excellent Computing skills

6 Experience in Operations Management and/or Engineering/Technical Support in Hydrogen manufacture, ideally in a Refinery, would be a significant advantage

7 Some skills and proven experience in "selling technical solutions" will also be seen as an advantage. This technical sell may include demonstrating features, benefits and value of a "solution" in an environment of providing technical solutions to internal and external "customers".

8 Some experience of commercial selling skills would also be an advantage. Demonstration of business connections within the major Refinery Operators in China would be seen as a strength.



You will require various skills and disciplines to meet your objectives. Challenges include:



· Growing our organisations' sales in the defined market segments :

o achieving the sales (value and volume) and debtor targets according to the budget and long term business plan for China. This includes direct selling into the Chinese market via effective management of our local Sales and Process Engineers and also our local agents.

o pricing, in line with the guidelines given by the Business and use of differentiated Services to maximise margins.

o to analyse, and report on customer and competitor activities in the territory. This will include proactive input to future product development.

· Identifying new sales opportunities /creating the budget for the next year as well as 3 month rolling forecasts

· Making sales plans and improving market information

· Providing the customers with technical and commercial support both at the customer site and by phone /e-mail. The following are examples of technical support we provide to our customers:

o Evaluation of data from existing customers plants to ensure the catalyst performance and catalyst life is optimised, supported with a firm knowledge of the plant flowsheet.

Troubleshooting of customer plant problems when they arise, frequently through on-site support
Providing expert advice and guidance during catalyst loading, plant start up, and reduction.
Providing a variety of on-site services.


The ideal candidate would be a graduate Chemical Engineer with at least 6 -10 years relevant experience of plant operation, troubleshooting and/or commissioning, ideally in a Refinery, and ideally with specific knowledge of H2 Plant Operation. The candidate should be capable of using his operational knowledge to sell technical solutions that provide value to both our business and our customers.
