Bioinformatics - Software Development Specialist

Location: Beijing
Fundamental Purpose of Position
Work together with bioinformatics specialists and scientists to develop analysis pipelines and tools in accordance with BIG and AB recommendations
Position Scope:
1、 Method development for the analysis of DNA　Sequencer data for specific research goals
2、Development of standard operating procedures, documentation, software/web tools and databases and scripts
3、Integration of diverse bioinformatics tools for BIG customers use
4、Interacting with external collaborators to obtain or provide data
5、Competitor intelligence including NGS bioinformatics
Major Responsibilities:
1、Develop and test analysis tools for NGS data
2、Support of our next generation sequencing platform through the development of analysis tools for specific customer applications
3、 Identify and automate repetitive tasks to enhance data retrieval, manipulation, analysis, and to ensure the quality of the sequencing data.
4、 Development of presentations depicting results of NGS data analysis that may be utilized by marketing and product management
5、Additional responsibilities may include:
　　 Development of software/web tools and databases to provide access to the data and analysis results
　　 Development of standard operating procedures, documentation, and scripts to generate custom reports
　　 Integration of diverse bioinformatics tools our customers use
　　 Application of statistic, visualization and data mining tools
　　 Interacting with external collaborators to obtain or provide data
　　 Competitor intelligence including NGS bioinformatics trend back to APAC
6、Contribute to demo data set validation and documentation (script, process, education)
7、Develop Biofx Customer training material (creation, curation, review)
8、Document Biofx pipeline such as SNP or Mate pair one　(creation, curation, review)
9、Develop custom scripts as per specific customer request
10、Provide remote education for Global Biofx support (new process, new tools, new scripts)
Skills/Behaviours Required:
1、 Knowledge and skills normally acquired through completion of a PhD in Computational Biology, Statistics, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field
2、3-4 years of directly related experience from the qualifications above.
3、Hands-on experience with the relevant sequence analysis tools (e.g. Blast, SW, Primer3, GAP4, etc.)
4、Strong software and algorithm development skills (e.g. in C/C++/Java/Matlab), familiarity with statistical analysis tools (e.g. R, S-Plus, SAS), database development experience (Oracle, SQL, XML), related industry experience, and a record of publications, are pluses.
5、Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency with a scripting language (e.g. Perl, BioPerl, Phyton) in a UNIX and Windows NT environment
6、Ability to travel within the region to carry out primary responsibilities.

Education
Ph. D. in a scientific discipline (Computational molecular biology or populational genomics preferred). Completion of an advanced degree in science is strongly desired.
