The Role:
Reporting to the Director of International Strategy you will develop King’s College London’s network of partnerships in China. You will be responsible for the development of existing relationships and partnerships, as well as the pursuit of new partnerships in support of the King’s International Strategy. Key stakeholder relationships include central and local government, academic and research partners, employers, alumni and China based UK organisations including British Embassy, Research Councils UK and British Council. This post will involve some travel overseas and significant travel within Mainland China.
Responsibilities:
Market Intelligence
To build, analyse and monitor market developments in order to provide regular tailored updates to King’s faculty and staff
To keep up to date with Chinese government legislation covering partnerships with Foreign providers in China and to provide advice to King’s staff on legal requirements
To brief visiting academics and staff on market developments, as required
Partnership development/relationship management
To research academic and commercial partnerships in key regions and to pro-actively develop new partnerships
To develop and actively manage a network of partners for the College in China
To contribute to King’s strategy for China, providing advice on partnerships and brand profile in China
To develop positive working relationships with key stakeholders including, including British Embassy, Research Councils UK and British Council, Beijing Municipality and central government
Marketing and Communications
To assist with China promotional activity to raise the profile and brand equity of King’s College London including academic missions, research initiatives, alumni events etc.
To develop relations with local and national media, translate press releases and ensure stories are placed in relevant media, and work in close cooperation with King’s International PR staff
To work with and support where appropriate King’s International Marketing staff
Employability
To develop relationships with UK and Chinese companies in China to provide internships for King’s students and post study work opportunities for King’s graduates
To work closely with British Chamber of Commerce to facilitate employability of King’s graduates
Alumni
To develop an active Alumni association in support of King’s activity in China, through identifying and supporting Alumni Volunteers to deliver events, group gatherings and volunteer activities
To facilitate placements/internships in companies where King’s Alumni work
Skills & Qualifications:
Essential criteria:
- A postgraduate degree in business or marketing preferably from a UK University and at least 5 years work experience
- Demonstrable knowledge of the UK, especially the UK’s Higher Education Sector
- Knowledge of the Chinese Higher Education system
- Previous experience of developing partnerships and business relationships
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- A willingness to travel both within China and overseas
- Ability to work independently, taking a proactive approach, with minimal supervision
- Fluent English (at least IELTS 7.0) and Mandarin (HSK 6.5)
Desirable criteria:
- Experience of studying or working in London
- Knowledge and experience of the Russell Group of Universities and research intensive higher education environment
The job holders will report administratively to CBBC’s office managers in Beijing, and functionally will report to and be supported by KCL’s in the UK.
