(70% of Time) Technical Sales Support – The position’s primary responsibility is representing DPS as a key technical voice.  This position is required to handle the highest level of technical inquiries, both from the Sales group and external from our customers.  Specifically, the position will include responsibilities such as:

  • Presentations – Provide external presentations to customers and industry.
  • Drill String Design for Critical Applications – Our customers sometimes request drill string design assistance.  Often, the execution of drill string designs will lead to customer direct and indirect purchases of our products.  Drill string design efforts may be mechanical, metallurgical and/or hydraulic.
  • Special Projects – An extension of drill string design is work on special projects.  Often, customers will provide Grant Prideco details of their application and request “fit-for-purpose” product configurations to meet their application needs.  This position will analyze their application and recommend optimum configurations of current products or possibly modified versions of our existing products.  For special projects, the position also often leads the sales effort within the GRP DPS Custom Engineered Products process.

Failure Analysis-Where necessary in international locations, provide the principle support role for any failures. This includes liaison between customer and NOV Grant Prideco and between District office and Field Service and Product Engineering. This role will include collecting and collating field information related to the failure, assisting in the analytical work where needed, providing customer updates on the investigation and providing end presentation to customers along with technical support and explanation.

(30% of Time) Marketing – The position’s third responsibility is participating in general technical marketing activities.  Items include catalogs, brochures, web development and most importantly, industry published technical papers through local magazines,SPE, IADC and etc.  Technical papers are an excellent means to publicize our company, enhance our reputation and build good relationships with our customers by co-authoring papers with engineers at oil companies, contractors and rental companies.

Daily duties:

  • Technical Marketing report to sales director.
  • Establishes Data sheets.
  • Analyses and report tender documents.
  • Review quotes vs enquiries/tenders when necessary.
  • Answers specific technical questions (including research in appropriate technical resources).
  • Interact with product engineering on definition of special accessories.
  • Support on technical aspect of sales to project teams in region shipyards.
  • Participate in company’s marketing initiative (show, conferences, etc.)
  • Analysis, support role and liaison with Customer and Product Engineering/Field Service for Failure Analysis
  • Meeting and presentation with primarily technical personnel of Operators and Contractors.
  • Meeting with technical personnel.
  • Preparation of presentations.
  • Delivery of presentations.
  • Help drilling engineers defining drill string components for their projects.
  • Licensee Support Role.
  • Follow up on electronic reporting.
  • General technical issues.
  • Potential improvement in processes.
  • Support questions from internal QC department.
  • Assist Office Administrator with licensee issues (Liaise between the technical verbiage and administration at inquiry, quote, OC and invoicing stage).
  • Customer after sales issues
  • Follow up visits if required.
  • Follow up analysis.
  • Monitor analysis and transmission to end user.

Qualifications任职要求

Education and work experience教育及工作经历:

·       Employee should have a minimum of a college undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or petroleum engineering (petroleum drilling), strongly preferred; other mechanically oriented engineering or petroleum disciplines will be considered based on experience. 

·       Employee should have a strong understanding of all drill string products, drill stem specifications (API Spec 7, 7-1, 7-2, 7G, 5D, and corresponding ISO specifications), and the drilling process.  Specific knowledge of NOV Grant Prideco or similar proprietary drilling products is advantageous.

·       Employee should have 3-5 years rig experience.

Knowledge  and Technical competencies知识及技能要求:

·       Employee should possess visionary and process thinking skills – able to analyze the market needs, identify new products to meet those needs.

·       Employee should have the ability to interact with various people/departments and effectively lead a diverse team toward project objectives/goals.

·       Employee should be able to communicate effectively with external customers, other employees and upper-level management.  Proficiency in written, verbal and presentation skills are required.  Proficiency in customer skills is required.

·       Employee should have a willingness to travel on short trips domestically and internationally.

  • Assist in settling disagreement in inspection of used products.
  • Employees should have a very good English level, be able to communicate orally and fluently in daily work and be able to accurately read and write English emails and technical materials, including petroleum professional English. English conference communication can be conducted online, at least pass CET-4.


Soft Skills软性技巧:

·       Employee should have computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and exposure to various drill string and well modeling software.

·       Employee must be able to work with information very confidential in nature.
