Syngenta Beijing Innovation Center, also known as Syngenta Biotechnology China（SBC）, is one of company’s seven global R&D sites, mainly focusing on Agricultural biotech research and product development for major crops . About the Position:

The Senior Scientist will be responsible for developing and applying novel genetic, molecular biology and plant phenotyping methods in controlled growth and field environments to support Research & Development projects. The selected individual will provide scientific leadership to the function and drive execution within and across diverse functions, projects and/or networks in the areas of plant molecular biology and reproductive biology, genetics, physiology and phenotyping.

Accountabilities:

1. Provide scientific leadership to cross-functional teams comprised of members from Seeds Research, Seeds Product Development and Seeds Commercial

2. Lead multiple multi-disciplinary projects and/or programs within and across functions

3. Independently develop innovative phenotyping methods at the molecular, biochemical, tissue, plant and population level for corn, soy, cereals and/or other key crops

4. Develop and implement innovative changes that enable the organization to deliver on its current accountabilities and enable it to meet even higher performance standards

5. Support wet-lab work of team members to develop proxy assays for key quality and agronomic traits

6. Seek out, identify, communicate and encourage examples of best practice from internal and external sources of information

Critical knowledge, experience & leadership capabilities

1. Ph.D. or equivalent in plant genetics, genomics, physiology, molecular biology or related field, and 6+ years professional experience in the area of agronomic traits, quality trai

2. Excellent knowledge of plant physiology and crop genetics, particularly maize and so

3. Strong leadership and managerial skills combined with a team-oriented natural way of working

4. Self-motivated and striving for continuous improvement

5. Fluency in English language both written and orally

6. Analytical and communication skills in interpreting and presenting study results

7. Proficiency in use of standard software and familiarity with databases

8. Demonstrated problem-solving ability in the context of plant biotechnology research

9. Demonstrated experience in working effectively as a member of a dynamic technical team

10. Flexibility in handling new job assignments and achieve results in a rapidly changing work environment

11. Effectively implement and report results of studies.

12. Perform plant studies independently or as part of a team

Important Additional Information:

1. Early morning or late evening teleconference is required to ensure global communication

2. Role based in Changping district, Beijing, with occasional business travel
