The Role

AspenTech is seeking an APC (Advanced Process Control) Senior Consultant within our China Professional Services organization based in our Shanghai or Beijing Office. Major responsibility is to provide APC consulting services focusing on refinery / petrochemical industries to our customers for their adoption of AspenTech’s APC solutions.

Your Impact:

• Deliver APC consulting services including assessment, kickoff, pretest, step test, design, modeling, configuration, installation, commissioning, training, documentation and post-audit to support AspenTech clients in their adoption of AspenTech APC Suite of solutions for refinery and petrochemical industries.
• Work as a lead engineer to deliver APC projects under technical guidance of team lead
• Provide peer support to other junior APC consultants as required
• Provide support to Sales as required to grow the APC business in China
• Provide support to Customer Support and Customer Success as required to ensure continued customer satisfaction and adoption of AspenTech APC solutions
• Provide support to Marketing as required to promote AspenTech APC solutions
• Provide support to Product Management as required, e.g. product functions, enhancements, testing and issues resolution
• Share the “Lessons learned”, “How to do better”. Support Team Leader to grow business and build strong team.

What You’ll Need:

• Degree in Chemical Engineering
• Minimum 5 - 8 years of relevant APC experience in consulting services in Refining or Petrochemical industries
• Capability to apply APC suite of software, including multi-variable controller, non-linear controller, inferential, PID tuning, automated testing, and controller monitoring. Experience or knowledge in AspenTech APC technologies, e.g. DMC3 and Aspen Non-linear Controller, is an added advantage.
• Proven experience of successfully executing complete projects from start to finish
• Exposure or experience in refining and petrochemical process operations and control. Experience in ethylene and polymers process operations and control is an added advantage.
• Competency in real-time database and DCS communication. Knowledge in DCS graphics and logics is an added advantage.
• Capability to work well with customers in an operating environment
• Knowledge and experience in processes modeling and real-time optimization (RTO) is an added advantage
• Good written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese.
• Capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
• Domestic and international travel of 60% or more. Occasional on-site work at long hours and on weekends.
• Fast learner with desire and motivation to learn and adopt cutting-edge technologies, e.g. Adaptive control and Robust control
• A team player with the ability to relate to customers and maintain good working relationship internally and externally.
• Good problem-solving skills
