Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced professional to help brand and publicize NRDC's China
work both in China and internationally and to provide communications support to NRDC's
China Program. This position reports to the Director of China Program and receives
guidance from the U.S. National Media Director. The incumbent supervises an assistant
and manages consultants as needed.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement strategic marketing and promotional plans to enhance NRDC's
brand recognition in China;
2. Maintain and increase positive visibility and media exposure of NRDC's China work
in China and internationally; handle media requests; advise colleagues in the Beijing
Office on dealing with media;
3. Develop and enhance NRDC's presence in China's social media space; expand Weibo
feeds and work with colleagues to amplify blog presence.
4. Manage and improve NRDC's China website, reporters database, photo archives, and
other related resources;
5. Lead and manage the creation and revision of compelling communications materials,
including but not limited to introductory brochures, project or issue briefs, website
contents, videos, ads, banners and bill boards, giveaways, and NRDC China gifts;
6. Design and organize NRDC's press conferences and other communications events in
China;
7. Control Chinese language quality of NRDC publications;
8. Develop and cultivate media and other relationships for the purpose of enhancing
NRDC's communications in China.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
? Proven strong ability in communications;
? Experience in branding;
? Creative and strategic thinking;
? High fluency in oral and written English;
? Strong Chinese writing and editing ability (mother tongue in Chinese);
? Ability to respond rapidly to communications needs;
? Good knowledge of environmental issues and non-profit work;
? Out-going and strong person skills;
? A fast learner;
? A team player;
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience; advanced degree(s) in relevant fields.
