The Institute of New Structural Economics (INSE) invites applications from highly qualified professionals and graduates for the role of Research Specialist (RS) in the Department of International Development Cooperation. The international team works on applying the Growth Identification and Facilitation Framework (GIFF) to developing countries and producing cutting edge research in development economics. We are looking for exceptional candidates with a sense of curiosity and a passion for international development.

Research Specialist Requirements:

Advanced degree in economics, political science, international political economy, development studies or a related field.

Knowledge of economic research methodologies and developmental economics.

Capability to carry out rigorous research, demonstrate independent critical thinking, and produce reports or papers up to academic standards.

Capability to independently manage projects.

At least 2 years of relevant full-time experience.

Excellent speaking, reading, and writing in English.

Fluency and ability to research in the following languages is a significant advantage: French, Chinese, Russian, Uzbek, and Amharic.

Field research experience is strongly preferred.

Data Management skills are preferred.

Academic focus or work experience related to Special Economic Zones is an advantage.

Key Facts about the Department of International Development Cooperation:

The working language on the team is English and/or Chinese. Candidates must have academic and professional fluency in written and spoken English;

The international team uses Standard English editorial methods for all think tank documents and reports, which candidates should be familiar with.

The think tank deals with high-level international economic policy. Candidates should have a basic working knowledge of economics in order to fulfill editing duties for the team.

The international team values independent work, and candidates should be able to independently manage projects and achieve high-level output.
